This years NSW Royal Agric Society Fine Foor Show Coffee Competition took place Monday and Tuesday this week.
Hundreds of coffees from all over Australia were entered in several different Classes.
I again had the privelege to sit on the panel of judges, and my group adjudicated in the Espresso Class. The offerings from the different roasters are judged by a panel of their peers who are experienced in coffee roasting, blending and cupping.
Each year the standard of coffee submitted improves and gets higher and I am happy to say a major reason for that is the competition itself.
The cuppings are of course blind. The panel of judges see only entry numbers and are not allowed any where near the store room or area where the coffee beans are dispensed from.
I havent looked yet and we were advised the results should be up some time after 5 pm today on the RAS website.
It is an honour to be asked to sit on the panel of judges for this event, and look forward to seeing the results.
