    Machine servicing in Canberra

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hi All,

I just signed on to CS to see if anyone had experience with machine servicing in Canberra. I have tried searching the forum but without luck so I am hoping someone out there will give a newby a break.

I have a Solis Crems SL90 for close to 8 years now. I havent had issue with it till now( I have used domestic cleaners on it occassionally but not religiously). I am having issue with the steam mixing with the coffee water somewhere in the machine. It only happens occasionally. So I was trying to find somewhere in Canberra that would service such a machine(didnt get too muchhelp from Cosmorex in Fyshwick). I did see Diamond C services Solis machines but can no longer get to the website. I am between Canberra and Wollongong a bit so am prepared to take the "beast " to the Illawarra to get it serviced but want someone who will fix it.

    Any suggestions?

Howdy and welcome :) I used to own one of these and it made a fairly good coffee.

Diamond C are no longer unfortunately and I am not aware of anyone else having picked them up as an agency.

I would suspect you need to lubricate an oring or two on the steam wand or even replace them, a good industrial supplier for some viton orings and a tube of food grade grease and do it yourself I reckon. If you want genuine parts then get onto espressoparts in the USA and get a non pressurised basket and a spare group gasket while you are at it. Getting the machine apart was a little awkward but easy to do with simple hand tools.

Due to the lack of spares locally and the relatively low cost of the machine there will be some reluctance for a commercial person to look at it too.

Hello big_sim51e and welcome* to CS.

For the record, your comment "...didnt get too much help from Cosmorex in Fyshwick..." seems to indicate to the greater readership that we at Cosmorex Coffee were deliberately unhelpful......when nothing could be further from the truth.

As far as we know, Solis is not represented in Australia at the moment. It is possible the "new reincarnation" of Diamond Services may be able to help.....and you will have to ask them.

In addition we do not experiment with domestic / home market models we dont know (and cant get bits for) because clients are not inclined to pay for time spent if we cant fix the problem or if the time spent outstrips the relative value of the machine.

If all of that means we were deliberately unhelpful, then perhaps we are guilty as charged???????* ::)

I apologise for the Cosmorex comment. Shouldve read "Cosmorex is the only service centre I know of in Canberra and they could not help me with the Solis Machine". I have had dealings with Cosmorex in a previous job and could not fault their service of Jura machines.

I *think* the Solis is similar to the Imat/Nemox/Lelit - if you do a google for "repair site:coffeeco.com.au" the first result should take you to Alan Frews useful piece on diagnosing faults (Domestic Machine Repairs) and it has a section on repairing the Lelit.

Having said that, it doesnt look like it covers your problem.

How much steam is there?* Does it happen when you have the group handle/tamped coffee in place? How long after starting the shot does the steam continue?

    Behmor Brazen - $249 - Free Freight
They are a little different internally to the in that there is no 3 way valve (simplier internally) but they do run a small brass boiler like the Silvia or Lelit. Fairly underrated machine in Oz when coupled with an unpressurised basket.
