    Your first GOD shot?

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Well I finally did it, of course it wasnt the ultimate elusive god shot that everyone is chasing but the best shot that I have pulled yet, I could not fault it even though I enjoyed it with milk apart from an initial espresso taste while waiting for the steam.

    First grind of these beans
The beans - Brazil Monte Alegre Yellow Bourbon
    Machine - Silvia with PID
    Grinder - K3 Touch
Beans were 1 week past roast date
Dose was about 19g in a Synesso double basket.
60ml in 30 seconds stopped right at the point of blonding

I couldnt help myself and had a small taste of the espresso to see what whether it was over extracted and it was damn smooth, not bitter, taste was great but Im not quite an espresso purist yet and like my milk so I had the rest with milk, the flavours were definitely less subtle in the milk but it was a really nice smooth taste chocolate and nutty flavours were definitely there but what I noticed most was the awesome aftertaste where the spices came through and 20 minutes later I could still taste it. I normally go for darker roasts to cut through milk but this is a great example of how enjoyable a light roast can be.

I think my next one will be enjoy as a doppio so I can really enjoy the flavours, Im also going to give it a go in the french press.

So can anyone remember their first god shot? what were the beans? what machine was it on? was it really satisfying?* ;D

    Cheers!

I remember the beans were MTC Boomerang, and while it may not have been the first really good shot, it was one that stands out for sweetness....and yes it was satisfying :)

or alternatively with all the things happening in the world that coffee is long way down his (or her) to do list.

Will I just have to be happy with good (to excellent)?

Perhaps you can call it the "Intelligent Design" shot.

    Or the "Evolution" shot.
Hey - maybe thats why Giotto brought out the
    Evoluzione
    8-)

That would be the shot (Macchiato) that I made about half a dozen shots after purchasing my Diadema about 3 yrs ago. I tasted it and exclaimed "Wow!" - then I laughed because the bean I was using was WOW. This bean still makes the best coffee that comes out of my machine.

Made the best shot of my HX machine today. Perhaps not my best shot ever. Thats saying something since I used to use a Breville Cafe Roma haha.

It all came after an epiphany this morning - ALL my shots I have been making with this machine have been on the sour side. Some beans less so than others. But all sour-ish.

So I bumped up the pressurestat. Clicks off at 1.15 or thereabouts on the machine gauge (whatever that is calibrated at* :-/ )

Oh. My. God shot! So smooth and full of body.

This was with the house blend from White Horse in Sutherland (coffee roasted by Mecca). Cant wait to put a nice single origin through the grinder now.
