My Nemox withstands the 8 person test....

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
My entire immediate family decided to come back to my place for coffee after our Yum Cha lunch on Sunday for my sisters birthday. There was 8 of us in total, and I was extremely excited to be able to show them all the joys of "real coffee". hehe..

I was a little worried that the lil Nemox wouldnt stand up to the load, but i managed to get double shots pouring evenly into two glasses and was able to do lattés in 2s. It didnt seem to take me too long to get everyone a coffee, and it was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Im not sure if they were blowing smoke up my butt or what but they did say it was better than café coffee. :)

The time it took the machine to reheat between shots and switch to steam was just fine, as by the time id rinsed jugs, cleaned groups, ground and tamped and whatnot it was happily waiting for me :)

It would have been nifty to have portafilter and basket so that I could grind and tamp the next shot while one was pulling.. Im not sure if I can get PFs as single accessories for the Nemox for 1 (they are 57mm) and whether it would really be worth it for th extremely occaisional time when I have that many people wanting coffee :)

All in all, it was fun and comforting to know that my home setup makes the grade when it comes to having those few extra people around. Of course.. if, say, someone were to beg me to take a Giotto off of their hands, Id certainly consider it ;-)

    cheers
    Lachlan

Lygon imports quoted me around $35 for another PF handle for 57mm napoletana, not sure if it included the basket. I thought it was pretty reasonable when Cimbali wants $135 for one of theirs >:(

    Well done Lachlan,
I just bought the metal part of the portafiler (no handle) for $15.00 and 2 baskets for $8.50 each for my napoletana from Lygon Imports last week.
The trick is to ring them as Daniella is most helpful when talking on the phone.

    Hi Lachlan,

Not sure of the boiler size in your Dell Opera, but I think they are similiar to Silvia, and I can confirm that Silvia will steam a 1 litre jug with ease, which allows you to make 4 Lattes/Caps at one time if your pour 2 lots of 2 shots first...(I preheat the glasses beforehand with water from the jug)

I thought about getting a second basket also, but think now that I can manage to pour/dump/wipeout/grind & tamp/and pour again without too much delay since Ive had a bit of practice....

Havent done 8 though, highest was 5, with 2 of them being piccolo lattes so did all drinks from the 1 litre jug....

    Regards
    Bullitt
