When is a special really a special?

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Please permit this grumble... Vitali Group advertise the special members price of $110 for the IMEX CR-100 but thats the price they advertise it for in other places (ie Crema Mag website). Whats the point of having sponsors when they dont give members demonstrably better deals than they offer to the general public? (I said it was a grumble... 8( )

As far as I know it was a CS special first... then it was added to Crema.

Heck, its about half the buy price of the Imex (most retailers were paying $200+ for them) so I dont mind where its advertised really. Most people that own an Imex paid closer and OVER $300 for them!

Whats the point of having sponsors....
    They pay my bills!
If you want to pay retail for beans (ie: 2x or 3x the current pricing) then we can drop the sponsors who contribute to the running of the site, movement of beans and the providing of a service.

    Andy:

I like to indulge myself and $110 is simply not enough. Id feel better paying $220 or even more.

The special should have been $220 for CS and $110 for Crema. This way he would have shown us that he cared more for us by allowing us a greater indulgence.

    My thoughts anyway...

Re: When is a special really a special?

Yup I can confirm that when we were selling them on a straight retail basis from our shop front, the RRP was somewhere over $350.00, and YES, the trade price to us was somewhere just below 300.00.

Either the current price to CS & Crema Forum is a fantastic special, or its the right price and the importer has decided to knock out selling through shop fronts and is happy to completely shaft retail resellers ( some of whom may be holding stock that is now unsaleable except if they are prepared to offload at a price way below the trade price they were charged, or I dunno...

Either way, its currently a fantastic retail price.

Ofcourse it isnt really a CS "special" if theyre selling to anyone and everyone is at this new price, not just to CS.

But whos complaining (excepting retailers that have been shafted) given all the above?

    Regardz,
    FC.

    Behmor Brazen - $249 - Free Freight
Point taken, yes, it is a good price. I didnt mean for it to be a complaint about price.

FC got it right. Im simply calling attention to the fact that their ad clearly states that the price of $110 is a special CS members price. That is clearly not the case if it is available to all and sundry elsewhere.

Also, Im not questioning the point of having sponsors. I would, however, like to think that someone is keeping them accountable for what they advertise.
