    Filling Portafilters

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Can anyone tell me if there is such a device for filling portafilters? I find filling the portafilter the pits as i usually have to Tamp down twice at least and Im wondering if there is out there a filling device for Home machine portafilters? Any suggestions or ideas most welcome.

    Hi Kualityman!

Ah, the bane of all coffee folks, I think. Those grinds just seem to get in everywhere dont they!! (even at work I find coffee grinds all over the place!)

Id love to know as well if there is something that will neatly fill a portafiller. And if there isnt, how good are you at inventing something?? Could be a market there for some sort of system that keeps the pesky grinds from messing up my clean kitchen bench!

There is a thread about the Weiss distirbution method, the yoghurt container mod is described and pictured (about 1/2 way down the first page).

Then theres the unsightly, cheap and nasty but effective cut-up plastic milk container.

Thanks Guys it would seem we have a common problem here. Yes Scoota Girl they make a mess dont they and then i aways think of the loss when i spill them. So needs be I need to put my invertors hat on. There are two issue here. 1. to fill the portafilta 2. to tamp the grinds. Now me thinks that something like a large hyperdermic that is adapted to fit the portafilter and hence no spills ten use the plunger to tamp the grind. I shall what can be done and get back to one and all. Im thinking a new style of tamper? Thanks for the feed back.
