Maling Room is a fair hike from the CBD ...

As I probably said in the thread thats linked to above, St Ali is, by a very large margin, the best cafe in Melbourne. It is also a roastery, so dont forget to buy beans. They just switched all of their cups to standard 170mL ACF tulip cups, to get a better strength. Theyre also damned dedicated ... I dropped by today for lunch and while I was there, their superstar barista, Toshi, also dropped in just to do some blind cupping to keep developing his palate! Now, Toshi doesnt like to draw attention to himself, so it is with great satisfaction that I say ... CAUGHT!

The other place that might be worth checking out is Appetite Food Store. Havent been down there yet, but Ive heard good things.

If you do visit us at Maling Room, be sure to say hi and let us know youre a coffeesnob so that we can give you whatever we have in our experimental grinder!

    Cheers,

    Luca

Ill have to be sure to do that! Maling Rooms just down the road from me, so I seem to find an excuse to call in at least once of a weekend, even if its just to remind me what my espresso at home is meant to taste like :)
