    Manual Pre-infusion?

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Ive been doing something lately, at home and at work that I feel has been giving me slightly better results; manual pre-infusion.

After locking the PF in place, I hit the brew switch for about a second or so, then wait a second, and then pull the shot.

Is there any merit to this technique? Or am I just fooling myself into thinking its doing something beneficial?

Some machines preinfuse by doing just that. If you think that its giving you better results, go for it. Although your palate should always be the guide, using a naked pf to double-check might give you some insight as to whats happening.
