    Brisbane Beanby Collection Point

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
I thought I better start this poll to get an accurate response to the question posed at

    http://coffeesnobs.com.au/YaBB.pl?num=1163654080

to see how many CSs are interested in a Brisbane collection for Beanbay.

at the moment this would possibly be at a CS members house just north of the CBD, so its rather central, and reasonably flexibe as to pick up times as well.

If someone lived further away from your house... the petrol going over there would probably equal the same amount of postage or more to get it at your doorstep. But that just depends where you live. Other people would probably disagree

You have take into account that this isnt just about cheap freight... it is also a chance for some CSrs to get together in person and "chew the beans". You would be amazed at how much learning and sharing happens when a small group of people with a coffee passion can chat freely.

Also, the more the members use the service and the more sponsors that come onboard the freight will continue to get lower.

Andy has hit the fingernails on the head.

Ill be there with bells on, showing off my Lever action, go anywhere powerless PRESSO.

Id also like to see the original corretto and findout why I havent needed to mod my paddle spindle.

Id also like to see Go Barista there with some of his Monsooned Malabar.

We could also vote on weather or not we are as good looking as we appear in text!

I agree, and almost mentioned this in my original bit up the top. Getting together to chat in person can be a rewarding experience.

Im in Everton Park, about 10 kms north of the CBD, Sam.

Andy, Im sure they just add character. Might I suggest dyeing them with coffee?!?!?!

But back to topic, a place in Brisbane would be good for me for the 2 -3 trips a year that I make down to Bris Vegas each year

    Serge, oui ou non?
    roast = rôtis
Torrify = dry by fire - so technically not roasting.

But Im interested as to whether or not the French use "torréfaction du café" to mean roasting of coffee as I think JavaB meant.

Je ne parle pas français *;)

" La torrefaction du cafe" was acceptable to

But Corretto was faster and "Torrecfaction de cafe"
    was the perfect answer.

Im happy with this kind of question, at list we are getting fan of it.

    You cant always trust them.

Put in the word "right" and you may not get the "correct" answer.

    Hi All,

Ill put my hand up for a Brisbane collection point. I can probaby manage to get to Everton Park. I live 10km south of the city, so half hour drive isnt so bad.... not too sure about a pickup down the Coast though.

Cant guarantee Ill be buying beans every month though... although, hubby is going through the beans like there is no tomorrow....

    Re: Brisbane Beanby Collection Point

    :)

... when we all started roasting 2.5kg of beans sounded like a mountain...

until [insert (hubby, wife, friends, relos, workmates) here] findout just how good coffee at home can be and before you know it you are looking for a method to roast more, store more and grind more. Alas, its a vicious circle of progress that we all enjoy being trapped in because the results are so good.

Dont worry about not buying every month, at the other pickup points we have a revolving list of CSrs and on average there are enough people to justify the service.

Should we have a Brisbane roasting day? When and where could be thrashed out in another thread of course ;)

An even better idea Belinda.Perhaps a quick discussion during pickup and then seek expressions of interest.

    Thanks,
    Ken.

Probably a good idea to descale it before doing anything else. Just go to your local supermarket, pick up some citric acid, dissolve something like 1 tablespoon in 1 litre of hot water (careful - this can sometimes spit if you do it that way) and let that sit in the kettle for a bit. You can run the heating element to keep the acid nice and warm. Probably best not to boil it. Once it has sat for a little while, use the lever to pump it through the group. Should get rid of most of the calcium buildup. Mine was more or less white inside, so I had to use quite a lot of acid to dissolve all of the scale.

Did your seal kit arrive? I havent taken mine apart yet ...

    Cheers,

    Luca
