It goes all next week starting Monday. Various demonstrations and events, many of them free but you have to book. Culminates on Saturday with a coffee fair or something. You can download the brochure from http://www.vincent.wa.gov.au/1/7/1/events.pm.

How about a Ristretto Festival? (the same events of the Capuccino Festival but crammed into an interval of two hours) ;D

Any other CS going to the Latte Art session on Monday night???

Does anyone want to go for a coffee after the roasting session? I have about an hour to kill as the Latte Art session does not start till 6:30pm at Epic.

Thanks Xenophos for highlighting the cappuccino / flat white / ristretto festival. I wouldnt have known about it had I not seen it posted here.

Ill be at the WABA Home Espresso workshop on friday. The latte art sessions were all booked when I rang - they seem to have been the most popular, and knowing Epics excellence, Im not surprised.

    Re: Cappuccino Festival

I think the festival is a great idea, all of the workshops seemed to be well attended but on the Saturday we ventured into Leederville to the festival expecting numerous coffee related outlets with displays, activities etc, but when we arrived there were 2 marquees with some live entertainment, but only 2 stalls serving coffee related drinks, we left disappointed after expecting a good windup to the festival.
But full marks to the Town of Vincent for putting this event on and hopefully it will be bigger and better next year.

    Re: Cappuccino Festival

I kind of thought the Saturday might have been a bit slow. I did overhear one of the Town of Vincent Reps discussing that they hope to get some good responses and feedback from this years event as they would like to try and get a bigger budget for nexts years event.

I suppose you have to start somewhere. Overall I enjoyed the workshops, Some were aimed at the beginner beginner and whilst I am no expert I found I knew a fair bit of information already just by being a participating CS on this Forum.

It was good to know that the information that I already knew was being reinforced and that I was doing things the correct way and that even if I came out of these workshops with one piece of new and valuable information then it was worth it. Overall an enjoyable and worthwhile event that I would attend again if they had new workshops.

    Behmor Brazen - $249 - Free Freight
I attended two workshops and for me it was the first coffee education/training Id received from live humans. Up to then all my coffee skills had come from reading books and websites - there definitely is no substitute for seeing somebody do something, and having your questions answered. Further barista training is on the agenda, when the budget says yes.

Did a home espresso workshop at WA Barista Academy - I thought Ben did a great job of squeezing as much as he did into one hour. Like Mr Goodies above, I had a lot of existing knowledge and practices reinforced, which was worthwhile. Also learned some useful tips, and the bag of free goodies they gave out was excellent.

The latte art session at Epic covered more than just latte art, and some of their passion for coffee excellence rubbed off onto me as well as practical knowledge. Not the first time Ive been inspired by their coffee! My steamed milk, which was quite bad, is now half decent, though my "art" is still painfully abstract.

Im grateful to Grendel who was signed up for the booked-out latte art session, but when he had to pull out transferred his spot to me.
