Talk Coffee comes to Sydney!
We are deighted to announce the grand opening of Talk Coffee Sydney branch on Friday 10th October!
Out of friendships, business associations develop and we are thrilled to appoint Dennis Wells of Cuppacoffee as our Sydney agent.
Dennis will carry a great range of equipment from the Talk Coffee range and will also (in time) be delivering the full range of Talk Coffee services including education sessions for Sydney CSers. For those who have been waiting for me to visit Sydney for a thermostability upgrade on Giotto premium, wait no longer as Dennis will also be able to offer this service.
Cuppacoffee will be open until 3pm on Saturday 11th to launch the initial Talk Coffee range and will be available by appointment for CSers to visit the roastery and pull a few shots on some machines. Of course, you are always welcome to visit during roaster hours as well.
We plan to open with a range of machinery from Rocket Espresso, Vibiemme, Diadema, Bezzera, Compak, Mazzer and Ascaso. Things can only get bigger from here! Cuppacoffee will also carry a range of accessories as well.
This announcement marks the beginning of bigger projects for Talk Coffee and Cuppacoffee.
We welcome Dennis to our team and look forward to offering even better service to CSers!
great news chris and dennis.

Wonderful news guys.
Many thanks for the kind words TG, Aaron and BF (in the other thread)!Originally Posted by Thundergod link=1223423587/0#2 date=1223428100
Im looking forward to coming up on a Saturday soon for a full on CS fest. I see Dennis doors open wide, Dudley disgorging beans at regular intervals, a heap of CSers and machines and maybe even something to snack on ;)
There aint no hospitality like Dennis ;)
Well make it happen (in Sydney AND Melbourne) prior to Christmas :-)
Chris (& Dennis) *8-)
Thanks for your warm welcome to the Talk Coffee team Chris, and thankyou to the CS members who have posted or sent messages of support.
Both Chris and I are very excited to have the Talk Coffee range of bling on the bench in Sydney. We all know that Chris has always provided quality equipment, exceptional value, and backs this with great service and support. I am committed to doing likewise here in Sydney.
So if you live in Sydney and youre shopping for some new coffee equipment, or coffee thats roasted in-house, make sure you come and see us - youll be glad you did! ;)
Excellent news guys.... Congrats to all concerned and mucho success [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
Great news on your new partnership of sorts guys and goodluck.
What wonderful collaboration; congratulations to Chris and Dennis :)
Lets Talk Coffee over a Cuppacoffee... ;)
My congrats and best wishes on this joint venture. ;D
Melbourne, Sydney ....... i can see more on the horizon
Thanks folks...and Lizzi, I love what you wrote - might make a good slogan!
Will post some pics when everything is on the bench. :)
Great News Dennis and Chris,
Sounds like a great venture, and in my back yard too. Congratulations to you both and especially to you Dennis for quitting your job and following your dream. Good for you, you inspire us all :)
Congratulations and the best of luck to both of you, Dennis and Chris.
Does this flag a longer term possibility of joining the move to the sun in Brisbane?
^ *^ ^ ^ ^ * * :) :)

As promised, heres a preview of the machines on the bench...
From left to right...Rocket Giotto Premium Plus, Mazzer Mini, Diadema Junior Extra HX, Vibiemme Domobar Super, Compak KS Touch, Diadema Perfetta Dual Purpose Boiler, and the Ascaso i-home grinder.
Come, see and play! :)
Very nice setup Dennis :)
Congrats to both of you on this promising venture.
Excellent setup and hardware layout there Dennis; perfect for prospective clients to get a great perspective of the pros and cons of all the various machines in the line-up. Love that Diadema Junior Extra though, beautiful machine.
All the best mate, :)
Great set up Den. Congrats (again) on the new direction and I hope the joint Cuppacoffee-Talk Coffee (or is that Talk Cuppacoffe?) venture is a steaming success.
I trust you have this photo in a good 1/4 or 1/2 page ad in the Shire Leader. I am sure there are people living on the foreshores of Port Hacking, Cronulla and Sylvania Waters wondering where to spend their $s now the stock market is looking grim. Convince them that while they are waiting for the fiscal furore to finish, they could do little better than to sit back and enjoy a good cup of Shire Blend or World Blend in a shiny new piece of bling that will look just perfect in their kitchen.
My missus has already given me the go-ahead to buy one of your machines (when I win Lotto)
Thanks Steve,Originally Posted by flynnaus link=1223423587/0#17 date=1223589554
When Dennis does it, its always executed with style 8-)
For those looking for some espresso making bling, there are unprintable opening specials on the entire Talk Coffee range for all orders placed with Dennis this weekend.
PM, Skype, call or email for pricing on your chosen gear.
Chris (& Dennis)
Thanks for the supportive comments, NE1, Mal and Steve.
Just to clarify, what we have here is definitely "Talk Coffee, Sydney" based at Cuppacoffee. Im still roasting coffee, managing wholesale and retail sales, providing mobile Barista services, and enjoying every minute of it.
I think Cuppacoffee is the only Sydney-based coffee roasting Sponsor, and with the addition of the Talk Coffee range of machines and service, its like Disneyland for Coffee Snobs in Sydney!
Steve, thats a great idea regarding the ad in The Leader...will definitely look into it and perhaps some other publications in surrounding areas as well.
Yes but one complements the other. To get the best of their Cuppacoffee beans they need the right grinder and espresso maker. To get the best of their new TC equipment, they should get fresh beans - "heres some I prepared earlier".Originally Posted by cuppacoffee link=1223423587/0#19 date=1223591608
Put some flyers up around shopping centres as well. Perhaps set up a mini-stands in Miranda Fair (but I think shopping ctr mgt tend to ask big dollars for these sorts of things).
Have you considered a mobile cart around the northern areas of Cronulla especially the Eloura to Greenhills section. Im sure surfers and swimmers getting out of the water this time of the year might welcome a cup of coffee.
So are you going to hire an assistant when the news gets out and there are queues forming outside 5/1 Box Road?
Great looking setup, Dennis. Those three HX machines are the ones on my [s]shopping[/s] wish list - how did you know? ::) (Gotta agree with Mal, that Diadema looks a beautiful bit of gear.)
Big motivational reasons for me to get over to your shire again for a visit.
Great venture Chris & Den - I hope its fruitful for you both. ;)
Youre going to be a busy boy Den - roasting, marketing, demonstrating, barista-ring ...
Steves idea of an ad in the local rag is good - but as a former journo, can I suggest that you will attract more readership if its published as a news-worthy article rather than an ad. Send them a media release & make a follow up call. Get them to come & interview, & you get a story about the business without having to pay for an ad. Trust me, journos are a lazy bunch, & love faxed media releases as easy scoops for an article!
Its gotta be pitched as news-worthy though, to convince the editor that its publish-able.
Think about whats on the punters minds at the moment, & why they would consider investing their sacred $$$ on a nice bit of gear, compared to getting a 6910 for quite cheaper at Myers at Miranda Fair. And why should I buy a bit of gear for that amount of dosh, when its easier to just keep frequenting my local caff?
Ill consider writing a press-release for you lads, contingent upon my consultancy fee ;D
Best of luck,
Yep, Tony is right. I inquired a while ago about an orchid show I wanted to advertise and this is is something Fairfax Community newspapers suggested - an advertorial. If possible, latch on to a local event that might be vaguely relevant to coffee - but theres always room for good coffee (you could use that for a by-line)
Tony might even come good with a bit of advertorial coffee copy you could [s]plagia[/s] borrow. ;)
Maybe ... ::)Originally Posted by flynnaus link=1223423587/20#23 date=1223603062
... but I aint cheap toots! ;D
Just a reminder that well be open from 9am to 3pm tomorrow.
As Chris mentioned earlier, to celebrate our opening, well be offering great deals on the Talk Coffee range for this weekend only!
So, come in and see us - Ill be happy to show you around.
arghh! Im packing to move house on Monday and I really wish I could make it. Especially considering I think its time to upgrade my Rocky.Originally Posted by cuppacoffee link=1223423587/20#25 date=1223626877
Congratulations on the new venture Den and Chris, I am sure it will be successful.
Have responded to your pm Aaron. Hope all goes well with the move!
Congratulations, Chris, not only on opening a branch in Sydney, but in scoring the talents of Dennis - you werent kidding about him having style. :)
Good luck with your move, Hazchem, Im only a couple of days behind you.
GregJW, get your eyes off that Diadema - if one of them is moving down this way, its coming to my place. :D
;D ;DOriginally Posted by Viviane link=1223423587/20#28 date=1223675629
Thats ok, Viviane. When you get one just pm me some pics, as well as your new address and times the machine will be turned on. ;D I guess I can "make do"with a new Giotto then ;).
Btw, hope youre not moving back into Sydney (or worse, Bowral ::)).
Nope, Im staying in the same town, in a house that has a corner in the kitchen just made for my coffee setup (or any machine that should come along later on). Ill let you know when its set up, though youll need to settle for Silvias espresso for the time being. :)
tee hee, our new place gives me a choice of a corner or a kitchen island to set up on, depending on what else is happening in the kitchen. Poor real estate agents must have though I was mental when I came to viewings with a tape measure to be sure there was plenty of clearance under the kitchen cupboards for current and future equipment! Makes the list of selection criteria quite long though, but I suspect I wouldnt be the only one here who has done something like this!Originally Posted by Viviane link=1223423587/20#30 date=1223987726
To get back on topic, I hope the opening went well Den and with any luck Ill be unpacked enough by Friday to come over and have a bit of a sticky beak and play with some grinders.
Well be closed this Saturday due to mobile Barista committments Aaron, though always happy to open up the roastery on a Sunday or at other times to accomodate. ;)

Sounds like an even greater day now 8-)
thanks for the invite once again Dennis and looking forward to meeting both Chris and yourself :)
Thanks Darren - will look forward to meeting you too!
One person has already booked their Giotto in for a free thermostability upgrade, so five opportunities are still available. ;)
Ill try and clear the busy schedule and try find my passport and get my butt down there :)
Thanks for the invite Den!
We wont be serving any vegie/minestrone soup on the day Dan, but your welcome to bring your syphon along. ;D
Im looking forward to it!
It will great to meet some more Sydney CSers, give something back with the complimentary upgrading and testing and hopefully pull a whole heap of shots!
For those contemplating ordering machinery from the Talk Coffee range, keep the day free and come for a drive. Dennis hospitality and Talk Coffee pricing will make the excursion well worth your time ;)
Allison has to work that Saturday so if Im feeling up to bringing the 2 littlums on a trip that really doesnt interest them I may make it. Added bonus of hanging out with coffee people and giving the botticelli a check up is sounding good.
Hi Shannon, children are always welcome at the roastery and Im sure there will be plenty of people here who will love to entertain them!Originally Posted by Shannon link=1223423587/20#39 date=1224725598
In fact, Dennis is wearing a clown suit, riding a unicycle and can juggle! ;DOriginally Posted by cuppacoffee link=1223423587/40#40 date=1224728143
Hey! I roasted that soup! ;DOriginally Posted by cuppacoffee link=1223423587/20#37 date=1224653853
Looking forward to it Den. Probably bring a small child or two with me as well.
;D ;D ;D Good soup it was too ;) And yeah Ill bring the syphon along, as well as anyone else who wants to, (Michelle), but will have no kids with me unless i find one on the way.Originally Posted by Michelle link=1223423587/40#42 date=1224729448
RSVP for my wife and me! :D
Will be great to see you again (Dennis AND Chris), surrounded by beautiful machinery, Dudley doing his thing, jugglers, beautiful coffee. Sounds like a great day.
BTW - 1st Nov wouldnt have been any good for me - tied up with the Picton Music and Harvest Festival (I dont if any coffee is being done - not much coffee harvested around here ;D). If anyones out here on the day, Ill be the one singing at the George IV Hotel in the afternoon.
Anyway, looking forward to the 8th!
If anybody attending has a notebook computer (ideally running XP) with a serial port which they are prepared to leave with Dennis for the day, Ill bring my fluke software up with me and we can do a quick install. Sadly, its not just a matter of grabbing a USB to serial adaptor ::)
The fluke software can do some pretty nifty things 8-)
Will save me lugging a whole heap of I.T kit (in addition to the toolbox) up with me- assuming that I can ultimately get this gear to talk to a USB port.
:( :( I have to bow out I am afraid, yesterday arvo I had to RSVP to a birthday party for Trinity - guess what date it is.
Oh well I wonder if lollipops playland brews coffee to the same standard ;)
Dennis, I will take you up on your kind offer from the other thread and make a day in the future to trek out your way and checkl out your wares.
I am sure the day will be great, wish I could be part of it.
Thanks for letting me know Shannon.
Coffee-flavoured lollipops...now theres an idea! Hmm..... ;)
Do I see another Dennis auction coming on :-? (Post mad professor experiments of course ;D)Originally Posted by cuppacoffee link=1223423587/40#47 date=1225233642
