Espresso Books - Learning the art

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Hi guys, thanks for putting together such a great site. This happens to be my first post :)

Im currently learning the art of the pour at a boutique cafe in Sydney, in addition to practicing on a friends commercial machine.

What are some good books to read to get a more thorough understanding of everything espresso and coffee related? Im interested in the whole kit and caboodle including blends, processing, roast, chemistry and its practical application, mastering the pour, etc.

Ive already read the home-barista.com beginners tutorial. That has been fantastic so far.

    Any advice would be great.

    Thanks :)

    Hi,

I blogged about ten books that might be of interest here: http://pourquality.blogspot.com/2008/12/books-books-and-books.html

Sounds like the one that will be most immediately useful to you is Scott Raos The Professional Baristas Handbook. Instaurators Espresso Quest might be the next thing to get after that.

I have also collected a number of links that might be of interest on the right hand pane of my blog: http://www.pourquality.blogspot.com/

    Hope that helps,

    Luca

    I have Scotts book.
It is pretty scientific but covers off some of the theory really well and definitly gives some food for thought

Another vote for this book. *Very nicely presented and the photographs are just amazing, I even show people with no interest in coffee and theyre always impressed. Definitely worth it.
