Do a search for "Bormiolli."
Im looking for some clear glass espresso cups. I have looked in a bunch of stores (a lot actually) and have tried online too, and the only ones I have found are Bodum ones in David Jones. These are perfect and I would love to have these, except they are $40 for two, and that is a fair bit more than I wanted to pay.
So does anyone know where I could get some cheaper clear glass espresso cups?
Do a search for "Bormiolli."
Thanks Randy G,
Had a bit of a look at the Bormioli. They have an espresso cup in the Duos collection that I like the look of.
Do you know where I might be able to have a look at these?
Just found out they sell Bormioli at House
I have seen those espresso cups for $15 in a store I had no idea they were that expensive.
Well, if you drop by I would be glad to drive you down to the store.. *Originally Posted by 192825262526490 link=1239290402/2#2 date=1239292440
I am at N 39 43 32 *W 121 29 37
I have the ones with the wire handles. Some have reported that the little spot weld on the band-to-handle junction has broken, but all mine have held up nicely. The glass used for the ones with the mteal handle is borosilicate, so they are *quite tough.
I got mine years ago on a closeout on the web.
I have the Bodum laminated glasses for latte and they are brilliant, keep the coffee hot and the fingers cool, they are expensive but if you shop around when they are on special you might pick them up at a good price. Mine worked out a $12 each. Good birthday/chrissy present hint for rellies!!! ;) ;)
If you go to Chefs Hat in Sth Melbourne, they usually have a good selection of Duralex glasses in all sizes.
Another suggestion is to go to Ikea, they have really cute little espresso glasses for about 2 bucks for 6.
And if there is any store like Victorias Basement in Melbourne, then you could pickup the Bodum glasses for about 15 dollars for two, like I did.
You could also try Peters of Kensington...they have a website and might sell them online as well.
This photo is of my Ikea glasses...
Thanks for all the replies. *:)
I looked on the Victorias Basement website and the Peters of Kensington website, neither had what I was after though. Do they both have retail stores?
Ive had a look in Ikea too.
I guess my tastes are a little too specific. I have seen other espresso glasses around like the ones Im after, in videos, and in pictures around the web and in stores.
I really would have thought that a clear glass espresso cup (with the little handle) would be more popular. I like to see my shot pouring into the glass (doesnt everyone? ;) ) and I prefer the aesthetics of the cups with the handle over the handle-less ones.
I really never thought it would be this difficult to find what Im after. *:o
Again, thanks for all the replies so far. *:)
Yes, both Peters and Victorias have stores. Though I think only in Sydney? Victorias Basement has two outlets that I know of, one in the QV Building in the city and one out at Alexandria. Peters is at Kensington of course!!
Are you talking about the glasses with the metal handles? I should think you could just about pick them up at any Woolies or Kmart??
these are about 90ml I htink. *Duralex viva (I think that is the model). *Not sure where to get them though, I bought these a few years back in sydney junk store (after looking for something like this in melb for a long time!). They cost me around $8ea.
Definitely no metal handles.
Want an all glass one. Much like the one Damian has posted. ;D
Thanks Damian. I will look these up.
Very nice rosetta by the way Damian! ;D
Glad you like it! Just ckecked, 100ml exactly. If you happen to find some otehr nice glass ones in melb be sure to let us know,im after some more.
Will do. I will be continuing my search after easter. Hopefully there will also be some sales on.
If a sponsor does not have what you want
I would try hospitality places as they stock glassware that can take day to day punishment
Couldnt find any with the sponsors. Maybe I will send out a bulk email to them all.
Hospitality places like the Chefs Hat mentioned above? I will check that out after easter maybe. Any other places like that?
Thats always worthwhile, its a great way of contacting a lot of coffee businesses at once.Originally Posted by 31000D0E0D0E610 link=1239290402/16#16 date=1239344270
We have told the sponsors that if they cannot help its ok to just delete the email without a reply so dont be concerned about the time burden.
At home I mostly use the glass ones with the wire handle (like in RandyGs avatar) but they do get cold pretty quickly and either get used a espresso "slammmers" or drunk cold when I find it 20 minutes later.
I like the idea of Bodum (that Greenman mentioned), glass that doesnt feel hot to your bottom lip and insulatates the contents seems like the perfect solution. Ill try some one day.
Ive got some bodum canteen (stated 100ml, but actually 120ml). Cant say I really find much difference in terms of how long it keeps your drink warm (maybe works better with larger volumes?). Also makes it hard to judge how hot your drink is. I find them ok, but nothing special. Having said that, if the small ones with the handles werent so expensive, Id buy some for sure!Originally Posted by 0D2228354C0 link=1239290402/17#17 date=1239347519
The Bodum dual wall cups and mugs are really nice to see your coffee in and to drink from. Only warning is that if you drop them or knock them firmly, they shatter into lots of little sharp pieces which you will be picking out of your feet for days. I think Ive broken 3 now !
Ive only broken one so far................... :(Originally Posted by 5D626864667F6E0B0 link=1239290402/19#19 date=1239355322
What do think of double walled stainless steel ones Andy?
I recently picked up some from from CS sponsor Jetblack . Id been looking around for a while especially a latte size version and many wouldnt actually fit under the spouts however these work a treat!
Not Andy, but ...Originally Posted by 7F435E454F4E594C444F2B0 link=1239290402/21#21 date=1239359515
I use these cups every day and think theyre just great. The insulation provided by the double-side is very good.
Just out of interest I saw in Victorias Basement, Sydney QVB, last week sets of the SS Avanti Double walled satin finish cup and saucer set for $8. Cup is 250ml capacity.
I found the Bodum cups on special at Everten Online tonight, marked down to 24.95 a pair. *Heres a link

Thanks for the edit Mal :) Just for future reference, how do you do that "Heres a link" thing?
Cheers - Carrie
1. Highlight the text you want to make into a link
2. Click the first button on the toolbar. You will see these tags:
[ url]link text appear on either side of the text
3. After the first URL and before the square bracket, type an = sign
4. After the = sign, paste the full web address. Best thing to do is have the page you want to link open and copy the address from the address bar
So you would have something like [ url=http:// somewebaddress.com]link text
5. Use the Preview button to see if *it worked
NOTE: I deliberately put spaces in the example above so they will display. Dont enter any spaces except in the link text
Carrie just hit the "Quote" button in your post that Mal edited and youll see the code in the typing window.Originally Posted by 5D7F6C6C777B551E0 link=1239290402/25#25 date=1239700197

I lost 2 in 1 go, PF fell off and smashed them :(. Although Fragile I still use them, they are exceptional at retaining heatOriginally Posted by 243126262D2E222D430 link=1239290402/20#20 date=1239355959
Just wanted to add that I went to David Jones again and found the beautiful Bodum Veneziano Espresso cups for 30% off, which was much more reasonable, so I snapped them up.
They are very pretty!
Nice, Bored. Glad you found something you liked at a good price too!
Very nice Bored, well worth the hunt. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
Thanks guys! Im very happy with them. They are perfect. *;D
Thanks to everyone else for their input above as well.
Hey Bored, how many did 30% off work out in $ per pair?Originally Posted by 685954575457380 link=1239290402/32#32 date=1240303584
Would love to get 4 for the collection
Was still kind of expensive. But it was worth it at $27.95 a pair. Down from $39.95 a pair. Considering the only other place I could find them was online at $24.95 a pair, it was a bargain.
AAh digging up an old thread...
EOFY sales are great.
Scored 2 X Bodum Pavina Espresso glasses and 2 X Bodum Pavina Latte glasses this weekend for $42.50
I did the same. I got the veneziano cups also.Originally Posted by 444C545E43270 link=1239290402/39#39 date=1244517710
On sunday I broke one of my pavina glasses! Hard tile floor and steel benchtop no good for drunk washing up. :-[
Pavina and playing roughly ends in tears I broke 1 of my 8 Latte ones last week dropped it into the sink :( Chasing a set of Espresso ones now when I see them for a sensible price ( $1 each will do ;) )
Love them BTW 8-)
We actually went looking for a new computer desk... ;D
just FYI I picked up the 200ml bodum pavina glasses for 18 a pair x2 from peters of kensington, ordered online and arrived a day after they shipped.
theyre marked 200ml according to peters but theyre actually about 250mls. beautiful as latte glasses, not hot to the touch at all. also great for cold beverages, either temp just doesnt transfer much to your hand.
lattes look great just after pouring with the bubbles floating down the sides of the glass, a bit like guinness :)
Quoting myself but... I had a birthday last week and Paula and the kids bought me Bodums!Originally Posted by 614E4459200 link=1239290402/17#17 date=1239347519
Canteen 100ml, Pavina 80ml and Pavina Latte 260ml.
They feel fragile but they are easily the best cups I have ever used. *I love using them.
I have had a few and they transfer too much heat to your bottom lip which for me, spoils "the moment". *Originally Posted by 7448554E444552474F44200 link=1239290402/21#21 date=1239359515
For whatever reason the Bodums dont do that which could be dangerous if someone else makes to too hot a coffee in one, you just dont know what the temperature is until the liquid is in your mouth!
And as we have had them a couple of weeks now, let me say, that is the trap!!Originally Posted by 230C061B620 link=1239290402/44#44 date=1245503538
Cool to touch, big swig, oops... ;D
aint taking them back though, like them all the same
Bought myself a set of 8 Bodum Pavina glasses (around 200ml I think) for $75.
My wife came home from a shopping expidition this afternoon and told me about some really nice looking coffee glasses she saw. I asked if they were Bodums and when she said they were I was out the door to go back & buy them.
If anyone in Adelaide wants to know the store just send me a PM.
