    What cup size?

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
After much research, i have finally purchased my new ACF cups. Opted for the 160ml (I believe intended for long blacks). As i enjoy my coffee a fraction stronger, i plan on using them for flat whites and the very odd cap. Searching initially through the CS threads i noticed there werent to many posts on what size/brand cups people were using. So im interested to hear what everyones using?

So, to get the ball rolling heres mine,

Espresso, Ristretto, Machiatto; Bormiolli Rocco, 100ml glasses
    Latte; Bormiolli Rocco, 220ml glasses
    Flat White, cap; ACF 160ml

ACF 160mL cups for me too! I use them for flat whites.

Bodum Pavina (around 80mL?) for piccolo latte, sometimes put an espresso or doppio ristretto in them.

Some German Demitasse cups that I also use for an espresso or doppio ristretto.

Maxwell Williams round Demitasse 100ml cups *- only ever use half of it though. 8-)
    Various designed `short black` cups.
For the milk coffee drinkers that drop in, whatever is in the cupboard - pick your own. :P
The littel middle white one is my favourite!

Doppio ristretto piccolo latté--the 100 ml Duralex glasses <----here, full.
Doppio ristretto--70 ml Bodum Pavina 20-30 ml (P.R. says theyre 80 ml--but only if overflow counts)

This thread is clearly not what I thought it was about. *Oh, well...

I havent bought cups yet, but, for espresso, Im leaning towards some of the tea cups they use here. *Theyre like porcelain shot glasses, only shorter, thinner-walled, and with beautiful designs. *Ideally, Im hoping to find a potter around here and having something custom designed. *I have no clue what thats going to cost.

However, the brown Nouva Point and ACF cups have also caught my eye.

    Re: What cup size?

I really dislike drinking espresso out of glass. Ive got this sweet as Malawi-made "village friendly" ristretto cup, which is my absolute favie. Also have a few black Rockingham and brown Nuova Point demitasse. (Actually Im missing two of the latter, I cant find them anywhere).

For flatties/caps - sexy Black ACF Tulips 8-)

Im still to find my perfect syphon/pourover drinking cup ... I wouldnt mind a few of the ACF 300ml bowl shaped cups for that purpose, I think :-? They seem to be hard to track down in Australia.

These cups are maxwell williams. *Nice and heavy so they hold the heat well. *They also steal the heat if not preheated. *100ml I think.

    Re: What cup size?

The curves are great as the cup doesnt look empty with a single shot as pictured because it tapers.

Here are my flat white/cap cups. *They are a little big and if I have a blend that is not as strong I will use a smaller cup. *I usually buy the stronger blends though and with my new machine I think I am managing a larger dose. I measured them at 250.

14C, but I used to be a 14B until I had children, really does wonders for....oops, wrong website, my bad! :-[ ;)

Im a sugar swillin, latte drinkin, Woolies 240ml (or so) glass heathen(ess). Oh, and some smaller ones that Vittoria threw in as a freebie when I bought some supermarket pre-ground coffee years ago. Gah - there had to be some consolation for drinking that tripe! I gotta get me some nice new mugs soon, though, because the ones I have really dont do my new machinery any justice.

I really love the look of the double walled Bodums and would desparately love to get some, but not at circa $25.00 for two little ones. Ideally, if not the Bodums, then Id like to get some of those large-ish but shorter in height latte/cappuccino cups.

No ristrettos/piccolos in our household - Id be making coffee every five minutes!

(*slinks away in shame for her lack of nice crockery*)

    Re: What cup size?

I had a laugh @ Hoyks...dont worry...the fine crockery bug will bite soon. Believe me...

I know we did a "show us your cups" thread somewhere else as I recall taking a photo of all my coffee cups...

Will have to update that one soon... ;)

    But for now...

Favourite cups are the Duralex range that I have...from small to medium to large...

Fave all time mug is the Krispy Kreme mug with a donut on the bottom of it. (so when you finish your coffee you see the donut!)

Most Drunk Out of Cups...are my Veneziano branded cups.

I have a range of Maxwell Williams, Bodum dual glass, Salt and Pepper mugs and some very special enamel espresso cups which I got from Florence, Italy. (Tin espresso cups are so not what youd expect to find in Italy!)

And I have a very very special set of espresso cups that I will soon get my hands on... ;)

I promise photos soon, Mal! Really! :P :D

Though here is one to tease you with...

    Re: What cup size?

Cup size well what can I say I like them big ::) ;D

Normally drink double espresso milk based drinks from a range of cups but currently either a Bodum Pavina or a from some I used to sell in my shop. Both are around 8oz or 220ml. Also have others for Syphon but need some of the baby Pavinas for espressos 8-)

    Re: What cup size?

Nice photos everyone, my good cups below from left to right. 6 of each ACF cappuccino cups and espresso cups. Duralex Picardie Latte glasses and smaller shot glasses. Also have a set of the smaller Turkish style cups. The rest in the cupboard are just everyday mugs for other mugs ;D
Out of curiosity though what type of cups and sizes do people use for hot chocolate ?

Yeh, i must say, after a few days of my ACFs im absolutely loving them! (Will get some pics up soon). I was a little uncertain of the size i wanted but the 160ml ones are perfect if you like your flat whites a tad stronger! Perfect!

Next puchase will definitely have to be some ACF demi.

Completely agree about the ACFs Crock! I love my 160ml ones - and it means I am drinking less milk with my flat whites.

    p.s they are beautiful!!

Glad that was a w in there, Den!

I raced off to take a photo of my cups :o and then discovered that Petes pinched the camera and taken it with him to Cobar/Packsaddle on his great motorcycle quest of 09. So, youre all off the hook for the moment!

He didnt end up going through the Bri, Scoots - something about it raining cats and dogs, roads closed, etc the woose! Put on your wet weather gear and tough it out, Buttercup, I say!

If I didnt have the care and responsibility of my two little darlings for the next five days, Id be out scouting second hand shops and kitchen ware places for cups this weekend but two children with itchy fingers around glasswear does not for an enjoyable shopping excursion make!

Oh well, Ill just have to drool over everyone elses mugs instead!

    Pics, more pics!

    :)

Hey guys, sorry to ressurrect this thread, but where can I get ACF cups? Preferably from a brick and mortar store as I would like to have a look at them first. I wonder if they are worth the extra cost as compared to the AFC (Australian Fine China) ones that im currently using. They chip a lil easy, but at less than $2 each, im not complaining 8-)
