What a cool idea to separate it from the beanbay thread - I see more and larger get togethers happening 8-)

We hope to get beans to the pickup points by:
This delivery date is a best guess as we are often at the whim of couriers around the country. Generally when the beans arrive at the pickup point someone will post in this thread to let you know the time/date that you should meet for the pickup.
Feel free to discuss pickup point pickups in this thread.
What a cool idea to separate it from the beanbay thread - I see more and larger get togethers happening 8-)
Yes, with any luck that is exactly what happens.
Pickup points are more fun if CSrs are getting together for a chat about coffee and to share ideas and tips with others.
Was that a tumble-weed that just went past?
Pickup point options have now been closed for the month so we can pack/roast and ship them over the weekend. If you havent paid for your beans you better do it asap else you will have to pay the additional amount for satchel shipping or have your order removed.
My theory Andy is that its all too clear and simple. No discssion was required. *:P
Im a little exited about tomorrow its been a long time since I had time to go to a pick up.
hmmm.. maybe we need some ambiguity in the post to encourage discussion. Next month Ill post:Originally Posted by 31292C2C392803313D326A6B5C0 link=1253008417/4#4 date=1253258324
"the pick up will sometime at some place"
Yeah, the coffee/BBQ/roast/pickup at Talk Coffee should be great fun. The van is all packed ready, which is why Melbourne CSrs would have got a "your item has shipped" email.
I think there will be 20 odd CSrs which will keep Chriss mix of old and new (original E61 + new Robur-E) working pretty hard.
See you all there.
This is my first order and first pickup. My order shows as "paid" but "Caffeinefreak - Wembley" looks a bit vague as directions go.

Thanks Chris and Andy for the coffee and a very pleasant way to spend a saturday morning.
In the flesh Chriss Faema is a very nice piece of industrial art. It should be interesting to try Fiefys blend in a few more days once its settled a bit.
Chris fired up the Garanti and a few of us chucked in some greens to see how it all works.
Just so we dont forgot from memory the blend was equal parts Nicaraguan, Peru and PNG, No particular rhyme or reason, those were just what was offered up :D
First crack at about 9min dropped at second at about 13 min, A little on the speedy side but the beans were very even in color and had a very appealing toasty flavor for the crunch test.
seconded about the Melbourne meet, was nice to meet a few fellow snobs over a coffee from Chriss Faema, great way to spend a lazy Saturday morning
thanks Chris for the coffee, both beans and drinks and thanks to Andy for the beans and roasting pointers, the popper is ready and waiting
...I third that.
Thanks to Talk Coffee for hosting it and banging out shots all day, thanks to "Ki the Chef" for his excellent BBQ work which raised $50 for FairCrack and as always thanks to all the CSrs that just love to chat about coffee.
Pickups are always a fun way to spend half a day!
Yes thanks both Chris and Andy, I enjoyed the chat as usual and coffee wasnt bad either!
After 8 hours packing, 3 rolls of tape and about 32 boxes later I have finished packing all the pickup orders.
This month they are all being sent by Star Track Express
You should be able to track them on-line using the following "Reference Number" (tracking code)
Veneziano QLD - BB0909QLD
The Coffee Barun - BB0909SA
Cuppacoffee - BB0909NSW1
Real Coffee - BB0909NSW2
Coffee Parts - BB0909NSW3
CKSYD - BB0909NSW4
Caffeinefreak - BB0909WA
ParaM - BB0909TAS1
Alistair - BB0909TAS2
But remember, being 8:30pm on a Sunday they wont be in their system until they actually leave here Monday. (Monday night they should appear in their online tracking)
Thanks to Chris and Andy. First time out to the Talk Coffee shed and good to see and experience shots from the Faema, they were very nice indeed.
I appreciate that Andy takes the time to come out from the other side of town, drop our beans off and have a chat. And all with a smile.
Not gonna forget that old Italian bloke that pulled up in the Merc, looked in the back of Andys van and thought we were the coffee Mafia - he could talk!
I along with a couple of others put in beans for the "Sept 09 Beanbay blend" and it was great to see a roast in the HG - first time for me and good fun. Not sure this vintage will be anywhere near as nice as the shots pulled by Chris from the Faema using Andys offering ;D

Far out Andy! What a service - fantastic news with the online tracking!
I recently ordered some tea.
It came with a tracking number.
The number was useless. *::)
The tea arrived first thing Monday morning; before the number was on the system. *;D

...until I scrolled the extra couple of lines.
Yes, that will sometimes happen with the AustPost satchels as we ship them at the main depot so sometimes they miss the initial scan.
Still, the tracking should help find one that takes a day too long though.

Fun to watch. I checked a few of the Star Track Express ones and they are moving along. Nice to have actual ETAs in the tracking too.

Newcastle Beans are also in at Real Coffee - Ill be dropping in tomorrow morning, but not entirely sure what time yet. Ive got to drive into Newcastle to pick something up at 10.00am with the trailer, so it might rather late-ish this time.

Shame you couldnt hang around as we had a bit of fun later with topshots Hottop as well.
Say that 3 times quickly. :DOriginally Posted by 484058524F2B0 link=1253008417/44#44 date=1254122426
Yes, after viewing the HotTop vids on "Things Coffee" and then seeing it in action real time, I was quite impressed. Thanks again for the demo, topshot Easy to use, very quiet and all in one - no other equipment needed except a set of scales perhaps.
Those who live in flats or units might find this just the ticket. It puts out a small amount of smoke but I think it is a very neighbour friendly option.
As a newbie to roasting and new owner of a Gene Cafe, thanks to Simon, Sue and all those who made us feel so welcome yesterday. Hopefully next time we will be brave enough to bring along a sample for critique! :POriginally Posted by 293C2B2B20232F204E0 link=1253008417/42#42 date=1254049173
