I deserve to be taken out and beaten :-)

Wife had access to a EM2300 or some other cheep unit at work.. But the owner has left and when desperate... Nothing but hospital instant is available :-[ :-[

Space an issue and no grinder..

A tec from a service centre...Sponsors. Wrote off an almost new Saceo Magic Deluxe ( about 6 months old I think) and teh owner did an upgrade.. The Deluxe was left with them all tagged (un safe) and ready for dump.

They asked if i might want for parts B4 they binned it..

All of these machines have vibe pumps.. Got a few now - cause they dont fail :o but always looking for spares ;)

So a quick look - 2 cent part replaced and she is all up and running.. Cleaned and lubed teh guts and the internals are fine...

Pulled the grinder down and burrs are as new :) Made a few additional adjustments and all is hot to trot..

Tested and all good... Do not like teh steam bits; but guess if they use it... Some one will have to clean it... Makes me shudder just thinking about it :-X

Will give wife some fresh beans and she can add just enough each time - If one looks at teh 4 Ms... Then fit for purpose and if it gets the job done.. AND the cup is not that bad... GREAT outcome...

Just can not believe I am helping to put in a Auto into my wifes work place :(

As you said AM, it is fit for purpose and gets the job done then it will be better than a lot of things in life. Dont lose any sleep over it ;D

First machine I ever had was Magic Delux, there I said it! It kept flooding the bench though, four times in for the same fault in the first year.

I gave up in the end when they told me that I should not leave it on at all. Even to make a cup in the morning and then one mid morning I needed to turn the machine off or no more warranty repairs.

All good though, pushed me into the Gaggia that lead to the Expobar that lead to the Giotto. So you might be starting your wifes work out on the journey 8-)

Dont think of it as youre helping put an auto into your wifes workplace, think of it as you are saving your wife & her co-workers from instant.

My neighbour has one same as the one you had on your show and tell table (I guess its the same). The wand produces foam, but there is a plastic cover that comes off the wand. Not sure if that improves the steaming much. Did you try that? Told them to try it... havent heard back if its improved or not.

Nope. YOU fixed it and brought the gift of coffee into the workplace... A workplace where no doubt the machine will be not all that well looked after - so you can look forward to an on-going maintenance contract rated at $0 for the forseeable future :o

We used to have a Saeco Magic in the Tea room at work. When the local suppliers maintenance contract on it ran out, it lasted 4 weeks before it died. It died, simply because only Hazbean and I cleaned the poor thing. When we werent there, it just died.

My suggestion would be when it dies, suggest a Wega 2-group 8-) Thats what happened at our workplace!

Best of british to you AM!!
