    What is honey processed?

Often see greens described as "honey processed" as opposed to washed or dry - what sort of processing is it?

What do you want it to be ?

As per JimSeven - Honey process; This is clearly a much tastier name than pulped natural, how long before everyone starts using it?

Careful quoting someone else AngerManagement, Jimseven might not be right!

Miel is spanish for honey and in the Central and South American coffee growing regions they use a semi washed process that results in what they call Miel coffee.* Costa Rica is one country that only ever uses the term meil and certainly never use plup natural.* Who are we to dictate to the farmers what they should call their beans!

So while a barista in England might be cynical about its use we have offered meil coffees over 5 or 6 years when the farmer describes their offering as a Miel process.

Thus the Quote was in full so as to not corrupt what JimSeven* stated, but it also explained in a broad* term what the process might be* "pulped natural "

As to whats in a name ?

    1: Pulped Natural
    2: Honey Processed
    3: Semi-washed

Honey process (Miel) is just a semi-washed by another name. *As a rule it gives more body than the fullywashed version of the same bean.
I would also suggest, that some may market beans as "Honey Processed" when the beans are not from Costa Rica, but the marketing is such that;* "Honey Processed"* has a better ring than -* Semi-washed (must still have dirt on then) or "Pulped Natural" (What The ?).

While those into roasting and being true to the bean and the farmer etc may know better and understand.* Marketing is about sales and the average Joe would go the "Honey Processed" beans over* "Semi-Wasted" any day.

I mean would you rather 1k or 1024 Bytes* ;)

So simsy I trust* your now enlightened,* some what* ;)

There happens to be more than a bit of truth to the above statement...semi-washing (or honey processing) the beans saves valuable local water resources and also preserves more of the beans natural sugars to produce a naturally sweeter and fruitier coffee.
