Is it the 12 months shelf life that you are after, or do you just like Nestle and their questionable ethics?

A guy I work with bought a 1.2kg of Vittoria beans for the office today because they were on special and "Vittoria are the best, right?" Anyone in Adelaide want them? Perhaps they could be used as weights for blind baking a pastry or something?

Lift your game guys. Your conduct in these threads is quite snobby! In fainess to the OP I think we should provide some advice on how to obtain an equally vomitus cup of brown crud if we cant actually help them with their original enquiry.

tresjolies, you have to remember the name of this forum, they are well and truly alive BUT they make for some enjoyable threads and an interesting alternative to us plebs ;)

Seriously the best alternative is to go up to the top left hand side and click on the Roasted Coffee section, check out what is there, although I havent tried it yet, Andys Espresso WOW is raved about.

Sign up and buy a small amount and see what you think, it might be the start of a wonderful journey into the world of real coffee if you choose to take it 8-)

    Gday Tresjolies,
you have been given a few starting recommendations so far, with a great tip from Chris. If you really, really, really insist on wanting to buy what you asked for originally (Im not going to give them any more free plugs), do a google search. I did one for sh*ts and giggles and came up with heaps of hits.
    All the best,
    Steve.

I think I have seen it in Woolies.

Most coffee drinkers here would wonder why you would want Andronicus.

The big names dont sell any better coffee than the many specialist roasters that have sprung up in all our cities.

They all use the same raw, green coffee.

Preground supermarket coffee is a step up from instant, on the road to quality coffee.

I was brought up on instant, and worked up through supermarket preground, to fresh coffees, using filters, stovetops, plungers and then espresso machines.
Now I roast my own and always have fresh coffee.

The problem is that the supermarkets require a use by date rather than a roasted on date. This is so they ‘know’ when to take it off their shelves. It is difficult to know how long it has been there.

Roasted coffee is usually at its best for less than one month. Ground coffee less.

That is why most coffee enthusiasts here grind their coffee within minutes of brewing their coffee.

If you buy freshly roasted coffee from a local cafe, roastery or from a sponsor here or coffee snobs, you have a better chance of knowing when it was roasted.

Most coffee need a few days rest after roasting best sealed in a zip top bag. Buy in small quantities, enough to use in 2-4 weeks.

You should notice a change of flavour as it ages.

I hope that you can find some coffee that suits your taste and method of brewing.

    Barry

You asked a very specific question that you would have been better off asking Google for the answer to.

You didnt ask for alternative recommendations, if you are serious about drinking good coffee then you have come to the right place.

Tell us a bit about yourself, your equipment and your coffee experience.

Gday All, just a teensy but most important comment here.

The quote "...They all use the same raw, green coffee..." should read instead:

They all have access to pretty much the same green / raw coffee beans. But on individual basis they can pick and choose and buy whatever they want, then roast it however they like, and blend it or not however they want to.....resulting in a plethora of offerings many good and many not so good.

    As a wise man once said.....You try....meaning.....you decide :)

    Attillo,

    I agree with you.

Perhaps I over simplified my message. I was trying to say that the bigger well known coffee marketers don’t necessarily sell better coffee.

We can often buy fresher and may be better coffee from the many smaller roasters or the cafes they supply.
