Is that "bad" as in "good"?
;D Ok - I dont know about your mother, but MY mother is!
Shes even roasting her own beans - I sent her home to Brisbane with a bag of brazilian and a bag of ethiopian after Christmas and she just ordered her starter pack from snobs today - shell be picking it up from the bean bay everton park pickup.
So say gday to Penny Carroll if you see her post, shes still on CS trainer wheels.
Is that "bad" as in "good"?
Probably more bad as in wicked.
Snobbery must run in the family! But she should be congratulated for doing it.
I get to meet Mrs Mrs Grendel :)
Ive been trying to convert my father but no luck yet :-/
My family just think I am crazy. Although I am sure I could convert my father in law, even if he has access to a very good roaster in Blenheim NZ.
Shes ordered a starter back - does someone get in contact with her to provide address details? She was wondering earlier. . .Originally Posted by Corretto link=1169346550/0#4 date=1169385209
Andy uses the address you provide when you fill out "My User Details"- when setting up your account.
Ahhh no -I was unclear - she is going along to the Brisbane Pickup day. . .
Ahhh.... gotcha...Originally Posted by grendel link=1169346550/0#8 date=1169446699
I think the starter pack includes pack and post by default..... because it can be ordered any time.
So its probably on the way to your mothers home
I had a laugh! My mother is a coffee snob too! Though she has only just today got onto the marvel that is the Intarweb!!
My lasting memory of my mums snobbery will be when she used to run a mask shop in Newtown in Sydney. I was visiting and she shut the shop for a break. We walked up to her then fave cafe haunt and sat down. Not two seconds later, the barista brought her a coffee!! I was absolutely floored at this service! I asked her how the guy knew what she wanted and she confessed to frequenting the shop enough to get that kind of response! That was in my days of pre barista.
Now, being in that position, I get my own kick out of taking over a drink to a regular and saying (like I did today) "I know you dont like the chocolate on the top." The customer nodded with a big smile, pleased that I had remembered! Thats what its all about folks! IMO...
So true Scootgal! Is enjoyable from a customers point of view when a barista gets to know you and puts in that extra effort. My regular cafe knows what I am after and my wife as well. It is weird when there are knew wait staff there who dont know you. But the extra effort makes me tell everyone I know about the cafe and encourage people to go there.
Im still working on my mum, but being a doting mother myself, I just had to share this picture of my 22 month old snob-in-training... She likes to finish off espressi and macchiati! I gave her a taste one day, with the intention that it would stop her bugging me for my coffee- figured shed hate the taste. Well, it certainly backfired, she loves it!
That is just too cute Michelle :D..... what a great photo 8-)
