    BeanScene mag ruined!

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Damned Sydney rain!!! The latest edition of BeanScene arrived in my letterbox on Monday! Only to be found by me a few hours later floating in water. >:( I tried to dry it out, but too many pages were stuck together. :(
Guess Ill just have to buy another copy from the newsagent.
BTW, I have now drilled a hole into the base of the letterbox to avert future disasters.

I think its changing its name to BabyccinoScene, so it will be in a different part of the store when you go looking ;D

    Know the feeling ajayro!
Mine was jammed into the letterbox slot, ripping the plastic seal (?) and rained on for god knows how long before I got home to retrieve it. Pages stuck together, tearing when trying to separate.* >:(* :(
I am lodging a complaint with Aus Post, cos I believe they could have dealt with the situation better.
Not hoping for desired result though.
There has been the (odd) occasion where they left it on my patio out of the weather.
Even in good weather, the folding and jamming of a glossy magazine into a narrow slot, seems a bit irresponsible to me.
Ah well, off to the newsagent. :-/* ::)

Yes Kevo, I hear you bro, my mags are often squeezed into the letterbox, even though there is a round mag holder under the letterbox. >:( It must be too much trouble to roll the mag gently and place it into the round holder.

solution: only one hole in your letterbox - the big round one.

Addressed mail is usually bundled together and delivered by a postie trying not to get eaten by dogs, hailed on, mugged, and done as quick as possible so he can knock off...

Having said that our postie has learned our names, chats to the kids, and leaves parcels around the back when were not at home :)

I am beginning to wonder why everything else that is designed for consumers is made for purpose - Letterboxes, however, seem to be made around half the size they should be. I really dont understand why. They should just be magazine sized!

I agree. We made a custom made letterbox just for this reason. It got stolen. I mean, who would steal a letterbox? Then at our current house, the postie shoves items wherever he can. My partner constantly receives items folded, even though they are clearly marked "Do not fold" and when there is a big enough hole for the item. Im always incredibly worried when expecting beans. I have to try and be home no matter what. :/

You guys in the city all like your mail boxes that come in a certain size and shape. ;D

Out here...well, Ive had a 25 litre plastic drum thats been in service for over 10 years now doing the job of collecting my mail, rain hail and shine! Ive only once had trouble with paper wasps thinking it was a great place to make home but not for long!

How about considering an old microwave? Ive seen them used quite well for a mail box...water proof, good sealing doors and heaps of room! No more stuck pages ever again!* ;D* 8-) ;)

And if it did get wet, about 30 seconds on medium low would sort things out.

This used to annoy me a lot - so when I went letterbox shopping for the new house I made sure to buy a larger size one that can take A4 envelopes (or magazines) straight in without folding.
