How long does your coffee last?

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hi all

I just got a Jura Ena 9, super automatic machine. I used to drink plunger coffee, one or two a day. Now that I have the jura, Im drinking 3 or 4 cappuccinos a day!

Just wondering if this is NORMAL?! I had a laugh. I love the coffee so much that I just want to drink and drink!!!!!

Anyway, how long does a 500g bag usually last you guys? Just wondering if i will go through it really quickly or not? I think with my plunger a 500g would last a few months...which I know is a bit of a while cos I can tell the coffee is going stale.

Probably use around 750g a week - mostly my coffees with a few to my girlfriend, and friends when they pop around ;)

Just me? I usually roast up 300grams a week for my own personal use

But then, I only have two coffees a day.

Working back through my roast records since September last year, converting green weight to roast weight, subtracting a few kilos donated to work / given away, my average consumption at home is around 320 grams / week.
And then theres probably another 4 coffees a day at work Monday - Friday.

And no, I dont think Im over-caffeinated. I put it down to stress from work.

Good question...been thinking about it myself. Probably 700g+ in a week. 5 coffees a day between 2 people. Dont actually have a 20g basket (15/14g Synesso ridgeless)...but Im trying small quantities of different beans Ive roasted which increases wastage, and also you lose a bit when you purge the ground coffee in the chute each morning...plus I suspect that when my other half makes her coffee in the afternoon a fair bit gets swept into the knockbox.

I probably have a few on work days and double that on days off (4 days on, 4 days off). Also a bit of wastage, as every time I come back to the machine I will always purge the grinder, not to mention wastage from distribution. I want a grinder where I can just tamp and go (how much more do I have to spend? haha)

I go through 250g in three days on my own at home and I shudder to think how much I drink at work probably twice that much?

I drink around 2 double espressos a day and go through about 1kg a month. Depending on the beans its often not too bad at the end of the month.

For two of us, its about 300g a week for espresso/aeropress.

And, at the risk of getting CSers ire, I must admit we still have premium instant coffee -- about 70g a week :)

4 cups a day (2 for me and 2 for the wife) - 500gms a week - I roast 1.2kg of greens every two weeks which gives me about 1kg roasted - works for me. I dont drink coffee at work.

    Wow,
I feel like an addict.....* I am on about 6 cups a day (Im the only one in my house who drinks coffee - Mrs Mariner is a cultural Philistine.....) average, probably 4 x double shot espressos and at least 2 x flat whites, used to be more milk coffee, but it was just too much.* The espresso is small and lovely to drink. I also make brews for all who come over so easily add another 12+ onto weekly production....

When at sea we have a Jura Imprezza 8, I limit myself to 3 x 3 double shots with soy in a large keep cup.

Rule of thumb is to have a large glass of water with every brew - avoids dehydration and (so my dentist tells me) is good for your teeth.

Re: How long does your coffee last?

15g in each shot. One or two per day, so 300g if I have guests who drink coffee, especially if it means I bring out the plunger for a mob.

Roasted coffee that friends buy off me is probably 400-500g per week on average.

So, there I go. Looks like I have to roast a kilogram each week just to keep up with myself!

Re: How long does your coffee last?

I reckon I would have the record for smallest usage and longest duration for a 500g bag.
I am too lazy to fire up my machine during the week (usually go to cafes with friends) so it mainly only gets used on weekends. Result is that a 500g bag lasts me around 6 weeks. Yes - after week 4 I can definately pick a deterioration in quality but ONLY by reference to my own best shots. Its still superior to any but my favourite cafe. Had a couple for Morning tea today to use up the last of my old bean whilst awaiting my next bag from Andy. Still pretty damn good coffee from 6 week old bean.

Re: How long does your coffee last?

I use between 250g and 300g a week on average.
A double for myself and my partner each morning, double that on weekends, plus extra for guests.

Re: How long does your coffee last?

I roast 625g at a time, divide it into two 260g bags sealed and that last about 2-3 weeks. This gives me two double shots (14g) almost everyday.

Re: How long does your coffee last?

Up to about 500g/week (and most of that on the weekend, consumption will probably increase a bit when I have a dedicated Decaf grinder).

Theres quite a bit of wastage there though, its still early days on the learning curve. Its not uncommon for me to pull a bunch of shots, sample them then dump them, and also the odd incident where I screw up my tamp badly enough that when I invert the PF over the bin to get rid of loose grounds the whole puck falls out...

Re: How long does your coffee last?

I too use to drink a lot less coffee than i do now. I would drink 6-7 cups a day. My partner she drinks a little less but is starting to drink a lot more. I go through about 1-1.5 kg a week. Im happy to admit this :)

I go through 500g in a bit over a fortnight, thought that was fast :S. Have to watch it when friends/family come over though, thatll chew through the coffee stash in no time.
