Coffee machine retailers in western sydney?

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hi,

Wasnt sure where to put this thread but i was just wondering if anybody knows of a retailer that sells midrange coffee machines (like silvias, lelit's etc) in western sydney. I'm down that way today and would like to go and check some machines out.

I ask because where i live we have nowhere that sells those kind of machines, we just have good guys, retravision etc. that sells entry level stuff.

    Cheers

No... It's really not is it? :P I'm not really sure I understand you when you say they sell above the range you're looking for. Jetblack sells Silvia's and Lelit's.

    What is your price range?

While I haven't used a Silvia or a Lelit, I have used a Breville Dual Boiler for the past year. I bought mine from Dennis Wells while he was a sponsor (Cuppacoffee), however sadly now the sponsors cannot compete on price with the discount electrical retailers.

The BDB is a high quality mid-range machine worth taking a look at. Look for it in your local discount stores. These stores mainly stock pod machines and super autos. I believe that the Breville D B will out perform all of those.

Lelit now make a dual boiler machine with PID temp control. It is available at Jet Black, Cremorne. I don't know how it compares with the Breville.

Oh! Bondi may not be in Western Sydney, but it has a better beach.

as far as I know there are no retailers out west - can't imagine that there is much of a market for them. your best bet would be to make the trip into the city to see a few of the site sponsors as mentioned above. don't forget coffeeparts either, though i don't think they're open on the weekend.

Re: Coffee machine retailers in western sydney?

I don't think either of these places are sponsors, but there is a roaster that lists machines in Springwood, and I randomly walked past a retail coffee accessories place in Liverpool, not sure what machines they sell though.

My budget is basically my tax return, plus maybe a little more, so we'll say around $900.

I might check out the bes900 now so many people have mentioned it recently. I'll keep an eye out for the one in springwood. Mate at tafe mentioned the liverpool shop, that and other city businesses are out today, too far away.

Also had forgotten about coffeeparts I had a laugh, have bought stuff from them before too.

does the place at springwood actually have a shop-front? i had just assumed they were only running mail-order or re-selling or something...

Why do you say that ?
..you do know that Parra' is the demographic center of "Sydney" ...and there may even be some coffee drinkers there !

Looks like the Springwood shop is called Ministry Grounds. They sell beans and stuff, only 3 machines though and all over $1500 so its a no go unfortunately.

I wish i had the time to head to the city for a day but my only option is the weekend and im usually busy then. Plus theyd probably be closed

no need to take my vague criticism of the suburbs on the chin - i'm from penrith after all.

we suburban coffeesnobs are the exception rather than the rule - the market out our way is for generic coffee club/gloria jeans fare, quantity over quality type stuff and 16oz cups of sugary milk with a hint of flavour rather than any sort of ireal coffee. to suggest that the western suburbs has anywhere near the cultured and refined cafe culture, the level of coffee appreciation or the concentration of either as exists other parts of the city is laughable.

not to say that the market doesn't exist - places like circa in parramatta, zokoko in emu heights and the pink papaya in springwood all serve up very excellent fare but they are outnumbered 10-to-1 by average cafes and chains selling volume served by 16 year olds (forgive me - i'm generalising to make a point).

based on the above, i am suggesting that any demand for coffee making equipment is going to be limited relative to the cbd and its surrounds to the point that i can't imagine the market would be able to support much in the way of retail sales (imho) and hence why i suggested there wouldn't be much of a market for them out west.

yes, yes they are. but considering our dear friend noidle is likely to have to make a trip to cremorne or bondi junction to see what he wants to see then coffee parts are indeed worth considering.

noidle: yes, that is the place i was talking about, however as they are not a site sponsor i was refraining from mentioning them by name. I would give them a call and ask what they have on hand for you to test before you make the trip - if they do have working machines on their benches then i'd love to know about so please report back.

for the record, the aforementioned act as a green wholesaler, a brown wholesaler and retailer AND an equipment reseller...

Don't forget to allow for the purchase of a grinder as well. You may have more chance of finding what you are after by looking in the for sale section, and considering something pre-loved from a coffeesnob member, that way it will probably come with good advice as a bonus to get you started.

Pink Papaya in Springwood is my local. Been going there since it began. Always consistent and they roast beans at their other shop (Cassiopoeia) in Katoomba. Nice.
