This Thursday 11 October, we’ll be auctioning off roasting and brewing classes with the country’s top baristas in a fundraising event.
The event, entitled Barista Heroes, will raise money for Coffee Kids while also celebrating the World Barista Championships coming to Melbourne next year.
BeanScene has a dozen tickets set aside for CoffeeSnobs available to come this Thursday who are interested in bidding on the baristas. For those interested in these items and not able to make the event, BeanScene is happy to bid on your behalf. All money will go towards Coffee Kids GROW It Forward Campaign.
The winning bidders who attend the event will also have a chance to compete alongside their barista on the night in a Latte Art Smackdown.
Up on auction we have:
Matt Perger - St Ali: An in-depth three-hour alternative brewing class for the individual or group that ponies up the most cash for Coffee Kids.
Jesse Hyde - Dancing Goat: 2 hours one on one giving the winning bidder barista up skills tips and training, and tips for competition for those interested in competing.
Remy Shapayzer - Proud Mary/In a Cup: ˝ day espresso training session for two people where we will uncover some coffee mysteries from the farm level, roasting process into brewing espresso and pouring lattes. Complete with cooked lunch by me and lots of pretty photos.
Sarah Michau – CoffeeHead: Sarah will offer a 90-minute training session, focusing on latte art.
Dave Makin - Axil Coffee Roasters: A barista training session. His wealth of knowledge and business expertise is definitely a plus when bidding for David. Not only is he a great barista, but also a wonderful mentor and patient teacher for many in the specialty industry.
Alan Chan – CoffeeHead: Alan will be offering a 90-minute basic roasting session on a commercial roaster
Craig Simon - Veneziano: A 2-hour barista training course at Veneziano Coffee Roasters.
Eileen Kenny - Market Lane: "A pick-your-own-adventure time with Eileen, suited to your individual needs. That can be time on an espresso machine, a filter brewing crash-course, a cupping session, a sit-down chat about the coffee industry and all of its complexities, or even a print of your choice from Birds of Unusual Vitality, or your own portrait taken on a medium-format Hasselblad camera."
