    Coffee with...?

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
We love a great/ perfect coffee, but what do you enjoy with a coffee, your favourite place to be what you do with that coffee, who do you drink it with

Typically a coffee and cake when I'm out at the shops, but in winter I love baking, a nice piece of thick toasted sultana bread with butter, a hot cup of coffee cap style with the choc sprinkles on top, sitting in the sun at home in my pjs and slippers slowly enjoying each and every sip talking to hubby and bubby about the weekend.
If I had a verandah with an excellent view and a great breeze summer would be spent on the verandah with coffee, hubby and bubby and a nice biscuit or cake, maybe a mocha cheesecake I want one now!!

I change my favorite paring depending on the coffee. Milk based cap works best for me with bacon and egg rolls . Where's my long black always go well with cheese cake or some nice chocolate.

I drink my sneaky double ristretto in the middle of a rush with my fellow baristas at work! All that talk of cake and verandah's is making my mouth water!

Timtam Slam if I'm indulging sweet tastes. Other than that I'm happy to have my coffee after savoury foods. Have been known to have it with a shot of brandy, another of Kahlua and some whipped cream on top. (Café Royale )

I usually drink coffee either black or with added milk. On rare occasions I enjoy Moka pot coffee with a home-baked biscuit containing butter and lemon, where the strength of the coffee helps "cut through" the buttery richness of the biscuit.

If I am out I go for the cappuccino with carrot cake. But at home, around sparrow's-fart on a weekend morning, I love a strong latte cake-free. Hey, and I gave up having sugar in my coffee, it tastes just so much nicer now.

my little enjoyment when I bothered to make any is short breads with my coffee... the dry short breads would dry up my mouth enough to absorb the sip of latte to reconstitute into a mouth full of yummy paste

sounds disgusting but hey, Im a simple man after a simple pleasure

Yup, on a couple of occasions where a cafe has screwed up and put sugar in my coffee it tasted like the milk was off (I generally start my day with a strong piccolo)...

First time it happened I tasted the coffee (sadly about half a block down the line) I noted that it tasted really flat and boring, and a bit odd... Had some more and started questioning the milk, then saw the bottom of the cup, sugar, bleh.

Cant let the last couple of anti sugar remarks go unchallenged.

I enjoy sugar in coffee, 3 grams in every shot or Lungo does the trick for me, I can drink it sans sugar but why should I when it tastes so much better with.

Now, when it comes to milk, in JB's words bleh, I'm an all black person.

And before someone infers I use sugar to mask the poor quality of my coffee, even if I say so myself, I pull a pretty fair shot and have been roasting my own coffee weekly for about 6 years.

My accompaniment of choice, biscotti, great stuff.

Everyone's tastes vary, to each his/her own.

Got it in one Yelta. The last time I used sugar, I probably used it because looking back to those early days and my skill levels, the drink probably needed it!

These days, a milky one for breakfast and thereafter black for me- no sugar required. What others do is completely up to them. After all, it's your palate.

    Great biscotti? Bring 'em on!

Any thoughts on my brother in law's daily intake? He has 12 (yes you read correctly 12!) instant coffees per day with 2-3 sugars in each. He does appear to have quite a good deal of energy, however he has slowed down a tad of late courtesy of some lengthy dental appointments. He also likes a cup of tea in the morning to get him going! I'm a double shot latte or espresso man myself, no sugar and just a piddly 3-4 per day. I need to lift my game. Oh I should add I don't mind a mint slice accompaniment. Any advances on 12 a day???

I'm embarrassed to admit that many years ago I used to like sugared/creamed/decorated iced coffee, but fortunately I have since come to appreciate the natural sweetness of many types of coffee and tea. Meanwhile, I put on lots of weight that I've only recently begun losing, and with considerably more effort than was involved in gaining it in the first place!

My favourite 'perch' for morning coffee, looking East up into the hills from the back deck.
Or my alternate, looking over the city to the South-West.
Coffee preferably accompanied by something with Cocoa or chocolate in it.
White chocolate or vanilla also pairs well with the Piccolo Latte/Macchiato/Lungo.

Reading these responses is making me fat!
My favourite accompaniment to my coffee is music in all it,s fine detail coming through a pair of Stax electrostatic headphones with it,s own class A amplifier.
And yes, I,m a audio snob too.

...a cryptic crossword for me, and if I get stuck before finishing the coffee then I might read a few pages of a novel before heading to work, and if it's below freezing outside I sometimes sneak a second coffee in (oh, for freezing weather at the moment).

Hi all, haven't been here for ages (life etc). Thought I might add to this old thread.
My 'day-off' ritual - black coffee, usually SO and buttered brown toast on my little back verandah. Perfect

    Hello,
Interesting topic.. I love to have open-faced Smoked Turkey Sandwich with coffee. It is very simple to make. Make it: Top one slice of whole-wheat toast with ⅛ mashed avocado (or 2 tablespoons), a grind or two of black pepper, 2 slices of tomato, and 1 slice smoked turkey. If you only have 60 minutes: Use white or sour dough bread; skip the avocado and tomato; use ˝ teaspoon spicy mustard.
Moreover, according to me coffee should also be made with the best coffee roast. Who has time to think about this and make a decision based on roast while standing in line at a local shop or cafe' getting ready to place an order? Coffee Roasters apply roasts to coffee beans that affect their taste, aroma, texture, color, and body. This is proof that coffee roasting is an important part of the coffee structure. Knowing information about the different roasts will help every consumer choose that perfect cup of coffee.

We don't often put a lot of thought into what is required to make a great cup of coffee. We just know that, whatever it is, it is worth the effort it takes to get that most enjoyable beverage that is loved world-wide.

    Thanks,
