Recomendations for a plumber in Perth

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hi guy's

I had our usual plumber come past, they were supposed to plumb in my new machine...

Instead they are going to send me a quote on the work. the way he was talking sounded like they don't want the work.

Do you have any recommendations for plumbers to install coffee machines at home ?

    Thanks

Too lazy and not enough in it for him...

All you really need is a 1/2" male cold tap (and a drain if you want to drain the drip tray). The rest is an easy handyman job.

I have had great response and success using this site to get tradesman quotes for small and big jobs.

I'm in a similar situation - figuring out if it's possible to have a machine plumbed as well as filtration. Did you find someone able to do a good job? And what, if anything, are you using to filter water?

A general note to those planning on plumbing machines. Plumbers frequently have no idea. Just last week, Rick did an onsite service for me on a machine purchased a few years ago. No PLV, no coffee filter (in fact no filter at all), no isolation valve. Machine was just hard plumbed to the mains. It took him a whole heap of time just to get the water off so he could service the machine.

Expect to tell the plumber what you would like done, not for the plumber to tell you what needs to be done.

    Hmmmm...no isolating valve eh !

So you have to turn the water off to the whole house or business or floor to work on the machine. And in a lot of cases the home owner / business owner has no idea where the main supply cock is on their property....

    Now that's real smart !

    Hi zydeco,
I did have a look at Serviceseeking.com, however in the end I did it myself. Took me a lot longer, however if I was planning to DIY I would have prepared more.

I did have the 'difficult' part done already a year ago. When I had the Brita water filter installed, I made sure the plumber fitted an isolation valve, on the cold water feed under the sink. I just needed to replace the domestic A1000 filter with the much bigger C150 unit, which used the same connections.

The Brita filter requires using a 3/8 BSP connector with a flat washer on the inlet and outlet, I could not find a braided hose with that connector to connect to a T-piece ( I have a filter tap to connect as well ) so I just put the T piece directly onto the C150.

In hindsight I could have canned the braided hose and used something like this T-kit for Brita C150 | Talk Coffee perhaps.

Tip 1: As Chris says, expect to tell the plumber what to do.
    Tip 2: don't book a tradie for a friday arvo !
