Go Java "always good stuff to know" phile!

... that explains a lot. For years I have had my first cuppa around 10am - whether I am up at 5am (summer) or as late as 8am (mid winter). Amazing how listening to your body tells you things you did not even know...

I find the idea of drinking coffee for the 'Caffeine kick' interesting.
If I was finding I needed coffee (or any other substance) to function I would be a bit concerned.
For me it's a 'treat' I have at Morning Tea, nothing more.
The 'kick' I get from two or more shots is unpleasant and unwelcome.
Last thing I want when I roll out of bed is a coffee.

Why the worst time to drink coffee is actually in the morning

Something for those who like to know how coffee could be affecting us. I know the sorts of articles we see in the newspapers are usually not worth paying much attention to. This one has some credibility and could explain our need for the morning heart-starter. I doubt it will change my habits until there is definite health or doctor advice to stop it.

For what it's worth, this study verifies that coffee has effect on cortisol secretion, albeit with a small sample

Cortisol is secreted in a diurnal pattern, with a peak around the time of awakening, a declining course across the waking hours, and a nadir seen during the early phases of sleep
