I came across this presentation from a Star-CCM+ conference (advanced engineering/simulation software) on how one company is using the software to design their industrial roasters. There's not a lot to be gained from watching the video....It's just interesting seeing how one company goes about designing their plant.

At the end he talks about wanting to implement new functions in the software which allow him to input evaporation, chemical reaction and heat transfer properties of the bean, so they can properly simulate a roast. Some serious engineering going on behind the doors of these manufacturers!
