    FREAK Coffee TedX

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
This may have done the rounds on here before, but I haven't seen it. An interesting Ted Talk from an obviously passionate dude. I disagree with a good chunk of the detail, but I like his message, which is basically 'stop drinking stale coffee'.

    Passionate, yes. Freak, yes.

His details leave a lot to be desired. About the only thing right/good I see about his infomercial was the message to stop drinking stale coffee.

If you do a little digging you'll find his 'best taste' roast profile calls for a 45 minute roast. Yup, you heard me right. A 45 minute roast.

I like his passion. The rest of his BS would be right at home in the barnyard.

Yeah that's what I thought too. But then I thought it was still worth sharing as I try to remember that pioneers are often misunderstood, discounted, maligned, persecuted even. Look to people like Galileo and Da Vinci in the past, Einstein more recently, and I'm sure there's been plenty in the coffee industry as well (Gaggia?) as things have changed quite a lot in the last 30 years. So while it's probably predominantly useless there could just be one small idea in his philosophy or a snippet of information that's worth giving some credence to.
