the latest thing: Aged beans from Nespresso

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hey All

Is Nespresso really on to a new thing with their New "Selection Vintage 2014"?

My thoughts: they had a surplus of old beans and needed to come up with a way of moving them

They are definitely on to something there. A very clever marketing ploy which will be pushed by a good looking celebrity. They'll probably charge a premium for it when the beans should have been thrown out ages ago.
Mmmm, I can hardly wait to taste their old, sorry 'aged' coffee (I couldn't find the 'spew' smiley)

The first thing that comes to mind is the much quoted lines "Surely, you can't be serious.."
And celebrity George replies "I am serious, and don't call me Shirley."

Thanks for posting this, I was laughing out loud while reading the garbage they are putting out there:

"Located near the equator at an altitude of almost 3700 metres, there are lower levels of oxygen, the air is cold and moisture freezes instead of being absorbed by the beans."

Who comes up with all this crap ?

"revealed a complex taste with elegant woodiness"

No thanks, please keep your woodiness for yourself . The sad part is that a lot of people that don't know any better will buy it.

can you believe they are charging $0.93 per pod, which is around .30 for .40 more than normal - for old coffee, amazing

And there's no real way of testing their claims! Who knows, they might have re-written the book on the effects of green bean storage on the end product, and come up with something amazing, but we wouldn't know, because they've packaged their wonderfully aged product into a garbage brewing process.

[I don't actually believe this to be the case - but their marketers must be loving that they can make entirely unsubstantiated claims and it doesn't matter at all]

I had a try of one of these for sheets & gigs...

As you'd expect, move along nothing worthwhile to taste here.
