Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Does anyone have a favourite subscription seller. My favourite one is recently consistently letting me down. If you have one who uses a reliable courier who leaves the coffee at your door rather than delivering it to a newsagency more than ten km away, I would love to hear about them. Good delivery and convenience is more important than price. (good coffee, obviously too)

Robyn, I get green beans from Beanbay but one thing worth emphasising is they let you choose the method of transport, Australia Post standard, Express Post or Fastway each time you order. Both Auspost and Fastway allow safe drops, but Auspost sends you an email (linked in with Coffeesnobs) which gives you the choice on every delivery. So you can say safedrop $50 worth of coffee, but have your $1k laptop held safely at the post office

Also consider Auspost parcel lockers if there is one nearby your office or home location. They simply drop off the parcel in a locker and SMS you the PIN to open it up to collect your items. It's a free service and has 24/7 access, though if not collected in 48hours they move it to the post office for collection.

They however only accept parcels from Auspost or StarTrack Express.

The benefit of a mail order system is that it be delivered to my home. I don't want to have to visit a local postoffice or courier pick-up site to collect my beans, especially when neither are near my home or work. There is absolutely no reason why my beans can't be left on the doorstep. Its a secure place, and lets face it- this is coffee. The risk of theft is low and the potential loss is worth the risk.
But more importantly, I don't want to have to reorder my beans when the supply is getting low. That's the benefit of a subscription. Ordering and delivery is automatic, or at least, it would be if the roaster used a good courier.

As people have mentioned, Auspost do Safe Drops which is leaving the parcel in a specified location around the house.

I seriously think you need to investigate the freight options available on BeanBay, AustPost will drop at the door if instructed to do so.

Getting it delivered to work is also an option. I love the smell of coffee on the train ride home.

    Behmor Brazen - $249 - Free Freight
When I order from Andy I receive an email from Auspost on it is a section where you can ask for the parcel to be left at a safe place which you nominate - I nominate the front door - it hadn't failed yet
