    cough... cough... Decaf recomendations?

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Gday Beanies,

after publicly ridiculing decaf coffee I have a need to buy some. :P

So I sheepishly ask for peoples first-hand experience on what is good or bad in decaf. :D

Espresso style preferred but pretty much anything considered (even cough... cough.. pre-roasted beans if they were great).

    Hi Andy,
Care to share why the need for decaf arose? *

For myself, I needed to decrease the caffein intake as it sometimes causes me chest discomfort. *Also caffein stops me from sleeping at night, even when I drink a shot at 5pm, i have trouble getting to sleep.

As for tasting, I recently got some decaf beans from Ozkoz. *From my limited experience, this has got to be the best decaf I have tasted.

Then again it could also be because these beans were freshly roasted, and not stale ones from the shops. *

I have tried at least 3-4 pre-roasted decaf, from different shops and sources. *They all tasted stale, and I was about to give up on coffee altogether, except from the fact that I had just spent $345 on a cunill grinder. *That prompted me to search for a solution, and the solution was home roasting!

Cant wait to see what decaf beans our supplier has!!

ps. any chance of letting me read your public put down of decaf?

A lady I know is pregnant and loves "real" coffee but is cutting back the caffine intake while pregnant and probally after when feeding. Im not going to drink the muck :)

I was hoping to hear something like this. She is drinking one of the Nestle decafs at the moment and it tastes like gravy.

    Thats great news for her!

It wasnt anything worth reading... more little remarks like "why bother?" and "whats the point?".

I can see a place for good coffee without caffine, I guess the problem I have is that I have only ever tried BAD decaf.

Ill keep an open mind and give it a try when I can source some.

Thanks for the great reply, it was just the sort of post I was hoping to see.

I could do that FB, drive all the way to your place and you can deal with em for the 3 days it would take to come-down.

Let me know which weekend suits you for this experiment and I
ll pack the car with all the best noisy toys (and plenty of spare batteries). :D
