Thread: Addiction to coffee and the making of it

Unfortunately I am joining the throngs on this forum and becoming a touch obsessed with the art/process of coffee making. I cant believe I am about to put down $40 tomorrow to buy a very ugly looking crazy popper to add further clutter our small flat. More difficult to believe, however, that the non-coffee drinking better half will even allow me to indulge in this passion (especially with the ongoing maintenance requirements of the 5 month old...).

My question is, do the highly addictive qualities of caffeine have anything to do with the coffee making obsession that drives people to regularly smoke out the neighbourhood with a popper, or spend more on a domestic espresso machine than many would spend on a family car?

its the relentless search for the perfect cup. There is always a variable to tweak to make it better. its the thrill of the chase. every sink shot makes the great ones taste better. The caffeine is part of a vicious circle. It keeps us awake thinking about roasting/brewing/drinking coffee. when we put our ideas into practice, we are then kept awake thinking about it again. :)
