    AWOL beans...

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
I recently decided to cup all the greens I have and learn about the characteristics of each so that my blending attempts would be more structured. Anyway, as I was going through my stash, marking off my list which beans had bean roasted for cupping, I noticed that I was missing two varieties; PNG Peaberry and Mexican Veracruz.

I thought that was strange and I must have misplaced them.

After conducting a frantic search both in my garage and in my house I was still none the wiser and minus two bags of green.

I normally store my beans in the garage and recently I have been leaving the garage side door open slightly to allow the dog to get in there out of the rain.

My conclusion is that my beans were stolen. I was miffed because the PNG PB I only picked up in the June beanbay!

The garage door is now securely locked again and the poor old dog will have to go back to sleeping where she previously did (under the BBQ) pending the fitment of a dog door.

Has anyone else ever had beans stolen?

    No mate,

Certainly a low bastard act if there ever was one >:(..... Our "puppies" live inside most of the time and I dare anyone to try and steal our beans.... their combined weight is considerably more than mine and all muscle. Bloodnbeans might be a new kopi-luwak genre of specialist beans though..... not for me however.... ;)

    So are they fussy thieves?
Why not take the other varieties?

    Re: AWOL beans...

Hmmm very odd that someone took only those beans as TG said.

I spose its possible that the dog ate them, but that would usually mean a tell-tale bag that was torn or ripped up. Unless they have been buried somewhere...
Dogs with their fantastic sense of smell might decide they liked one particular type of bean, although I would have thought if dog was that hungry, any beans would do...

My dog hasnt shown any interest in green beans so far,
although she will try half a freshly roasted bean if I give it to her just after I have chewed it in half...

    Regards

Yes, the 120Kg of combined weight my dogs have would stop all but the very stupid getting to my greens.

However my dogs wont leave me alone till I have given them a couple of beans each after doing a roast.

    Re: AWOL beans...

Never had any stolen to my knowledge. My storage area would not be easily accessible to a would be theif.

Our Beagles dont seem to show an interest in the green beans, but they will both hang around for a freshly roasted offereing.

They are Snobs too! They show no interest in the stray stale beans on the ground from previous roasts - only the fresh ones please!

I had a bag of Mocha Java Decaf that was stolen.

Of course it was the dog who stole them...along with 3 pairs of shoes, 2 towles and a book (now mulch). Thats what you get for sleeping in on a Sunday morning when its clearly time to go for a walk.

Our dog hasnt shown any interest in my greens at all and they are stored in a cupboard. She is only a small dog and there have been no telltale signs of doggy destruction.

I will keep searching on the off chance that I have inadvertently placed them in a "safe" place but Im not holding my breath..

I also missed noticing the bag of Brazil Ipanema Dulce that they fleeced as well!! *>:( :(

Thats 3 bags of green in total. The only saving grace is that the Brazil and the Mexican were partially used. Someone is going to have fun blending..

    Re: AWOL beans...

A bit off topic. My friend has left there door open a liitle the last couple of weeks to let the dog in and last week she got up and went to work at 3am, baker, and just after she left her partner still in bed heard a noise out the back, windchimes with no wind and thought it was strange then popped his head up to find a guy leaning over the bed to see who it was still in the bed.

He said it was all slow motion but he threw his doona at him and grabbed for his neck and got his shirt and the guy got away and then fell trying to jump the fence if he didnt sleep nude he would have got him.

    There getting cheekier.

    Behmor Brazen - $249 - Free Freight
In Narangba QLD. Its an expanding estate and in this part its relativly new. Nearly every house along this street has been broken into or attempted, apart from there friends house who has two rather large rottwheelers(?) both there their friends neigbours got done but not them.

My friends house is on the other side of the street but there fence its partly pulled down because machinery needs to get though for there landscapeing work so I guess it was easy entry for him.

At the back off all these houses there is trees a path then more trees then a trainline. The path goes all the way to the next suburb without even going near a road so its easy for them to get away and to suss out the house without being seen.
