Colombia's conundrum: its coffee is better in Australia

Not surprised that we get to experience better coffee than some of the countries we import from. There's mention of Finca la Esperenza from which we have seen the geisha varietal in Beanbay a couple of years ago.

    Good article.

At $85/kg for the Esperanza geisha and $22/kg for the bourbon and pacamara varietals (green bean price) it's pretty easy to see why that level of coffee is not in the Colombian cafes. Their locals (or dopey Aussie tourista) can buy cocaine cheaper than that

They were excellent coffees though and I often think that our Volcan Galeras is a bargain for the quality in the cup too.

Hmmm...I'm not implying you are one of those dopey tourists but I wonder how you know this. We aren't going to see the Colombian version of Brewbudz in Beanbay are we? "Brewblow because caffiene is not always enough"

The Esperanza was great coffee to experience premium Sth American beans but the Galeras should be a staple in any Snob's stash. Delicious in blends or as a single origin and excellent value for money

I know from the Cassie Sainsbury headphone saga
...she would have been way better off buying coffee instead.
