    Sloppy Pucks

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Morning All,

    I have a problem...

I recently received my yummy beans from beanbay and my Kenya AA are almost gone... But, I my pucks seem to be getting sloppyier and sloppyier. I have had the odd one that is OK, and the cofee tastes better than anything Ive had before at home, but I cant figure out how to make them nice and hard!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated...

    Cheers! [smiley=beer.gif]

have you got a full PF, first thing that comes to mind is the pf is underdosed, on both my azkoyen and silvia underdosing usually is the culprit
but someone else should confirm this first

    steve,

you are under dosing it sounds like...

    Try this..

dosing to a mountain, tap PF on bench to collapse, dose again to a mounatin, press down with fingers and level off with a square edge like the back of a knife, then tamp! You should aim for a 2-3 mil gap between the coffee surface and the edge of the basket.

    Hey guys...

Just packed the sh1t out of my PF and yep... puck was much, much firmer... still seem to be getting some channelling, would this be due to an inconsistent tamp? I definitly dried the PF before dosing...

    Cheers! [smiley=beer.gif]

    Gday Steve,
another culprit for sloppy pucks is using too fine a grind, along with possible underdosing.

    Gday Steve,

The other guys have pretty well got it covered..... The only other thing I can think of that may be contributing to soggy pucks is that the Brew Water Temperature may be a little low. Have you experimented with the settings on the EM as yet, might be worth a try as well :)?
