    coffee journey

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
as most long time snobbers I've been bitten by the upgradis bug and although not overly expensive my wife has got the cranks with me. she enjoys the coffee so she will calm down quickly I hope.

my journey started when I was given a sunbeam 6900 over 10 years ago and I started the uphill journey and after a move to Melbourne and a 2nd hand La Scala Butterfly e61 HX I finally discovered great at home coffee. this may have also been from the addition of a superjolly to my stable.

this la scala super jolly combo kept me really happy for 6 years until the move back to qld and I spied a ecm giotto for sale and again I found a good improvement in espresso. I was done or so I thought.

I practised my grind dose and tamp and loved watching the golden nectar ooze from my naked portafilter.

that was until I came across a rocket giotto evo 2 for sale. rotary pump and plumbable and now why my wife is crank.

now I have found my happy place. its quiet I can tuck it in with no need to fill her water tank and with a 5 litre waste bucket it's only a weekly empty and clean cycle for her waste water. I do add a splash of white vinegar to keep the nasty bugs at bay plus it's a closed container so no flies ect.

Roxanne fits right in to my kitchen now. nestled next to Suzanne my superjolly. I love her short hopper and doserless funnel. now to sit back and relax with my sunday morning piccolo.

You mean, there are some people out there that don't?
It doesn't go into service unless it has been named.

Mine has a name too. It's called The Coffee Machine. 

We refer to it by name all the time, eg, "is The Coffee Machine on?"

Or. "I'm going to backflush The Coffee Machine".
But heck, it is an essential member of the family after all.

The cars also have names. Big Grey. Big Red. Big Blue.
That's because, for example, Big Grey is big. And it's grey.

We did draw the line though at having Christenings.
