    Best Sydney Decaf beans???

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
My wifes pregnant but wont give up her beloved coffee. Dont blame her. She growls when she smells me grinding my espresso beans every morning so I need to look after her. Any calls on the best *fresh roasted Decaf beans available in Sydney? Needs to be a strong, rich roast. Preferably around the Inner West area. This is crucial so Id prefer personal recommendations rather than "Someone told me ...". I dont need a cranky, pregnant wife with a coffee deficit in her system for another 6 months!

Hi TC. I had a look on Andys brownbay but couldnt see any there. Though if youre going to need a steady supply for a while, I suggest you send him an email and ask if he has them available.

Andy does freshly roasted coffee that can be delivered to your door in a jiffy!

Other than that, I would recommend DiBartoli and am pretty sure they could post to you too.

Hey TC. I havent tried these beans as I dont drink decaf, but Caffe Bianchi at Leichhardt Marketplace have a good range of in-house roasted coffees. Ive just checked their website and they have decaf Columbian supremo grade (swiss water processed).

No affiliation, but I have enjoyed their other coffees, which tend to be dark roasted in the Italian tradition. Good luck.

Hi TC ... Ive been in your situation when my beloved was preggers with twin boys 4 years ago. My wife, being the stubborn sort (even more so when pregnant!), insisted that one mug of REAL coffee per day was fine - we grilled our obstetrician also, & he agreed. There was no impact on the health of my boys ... they are both a bit jumpy though!

That said, if you are insistent on decaf, make sure its processed in the Swiss water tradition - natural, no chemicals like many big coffee companies employ to leach out the caffeine.

    Good luck

    Thanks Dennis, ajayro57 and GrindOnDemand.

Weve tried the Di Bartoli decaf and it was very good but Bondi Junction is such a hike if we want the beans fresh. Didnt know theyd post so Ill check that out.

Caffe Bianchhi is definitely closer and Im using their Espresso Forte at the moment. Its fantastic and is the grinding scent that is driving my wife mad in the mornings - she must have Italian blood in there somewhere. Ill try their Decaf but would still like to hear of any personal thoughts on it.

I looked at the Brown Bean section for the first time before doing this original post (Im pretty new here) and noticed there was no Decaf. Im a little worried about buying in kilo lots too. That would take my wife a long time to go through and Id worry about the freshness of the last half of the beans. *Opinions???

I use Di Bella beans at my cafe - the decaf is excellent, & Swiss water. You can order online if you want to try some TC (theyre Brisbane based) ...

TC, Ive heard from others that The Golden Cobras Decaf is pretty good. You should be able to pick up a bag from Cordial in Newtown.

I know their not in sydney but Delanos down the coast in Fairy Meadow have the absolute best decaf I have ever tasted. Could almost drink it instead of "hi octane" anyday. In fact ive served it up to guests & friends & they have all said what a wonderful cuppa. The best part though is the expression on their faces when I tell them its a decaf...I had a laugh
Im sure if you gave them a call they could arrange something for you. If not pm me & ill see what I can do for you, im usually out there every few weeks to get more.

    Hey Ozz.

Thanks for the tip. I actually followed GrindonDemands tip (regarding his wife still having one good cup of high octane when she was pregnant) and thats gone well. My wife is happy if she gets that one good one and the baby doesnt react excessively.

Lots of people have asked me about the result of this question to the forum so Id still like to be able to pass on your advice about Delanos. Where is Fairy Meadow though?

    Hi argon
They have 4 main coffees, Divino, Antigua, Tuscanny & Alegria(I think it is). I put them in my prefference order, just love the divino. Antigua is probably the strongest of the lot but also has an awsome taste to it. I think they also sell another brand, I think its Rubra or something but havent tried it...yet...I had a laugh
They sell them in 250g up to a kilo. Mostly I just get the 4 different bags so I can mix it up a bit & have a different coffee whenever I feel like it. And of course their yummilicious decaf for the arvos & evenings.
You can just give them a call & organise to pop in to pick it up.
Drop me a message if ever you want to hook up for a cuppa sometime, theres not many of us here from the Illawarra by the looks of it so we might be able to trade a few tricks or something.
    Hope that helps mate
