I liked my wahgi from previous BeanBay, so viscous, so good...cupping experience ---> forgot all my life troubles for a few minutes.

Definitely more of this, those that miss out from last BeanBay should have another chance at this great bean. I will refrain from clicking/hoarding, I promise :)

The Wahgi AA is looking good, the broker still had some so we have reserved 3 bags... should be in the next Beanbay.

As an incentive/reward/whatever, *::) for folks to use the wishing well, maybe early posters could earn a 2.5kg bag in their basket when Beanbay starts. If they couldnt or didnt end up making the order, the beans would be returned 30 minutes later anyhow. Just a thought, but probably lots of extra work for Andy.

    Cheers

    Re: PNG Wahgi AA

Neat idea but sorry no, maybe one day but not at the moment.

The idea of extra work at BeanBay time makes me shudder... we already have 9 people in the thread, multiply by 3 minutes each to fudge the BeanBay database (at best) and it is half an hour. Add 5 or 10 different beans and double the amount of people posting in the thread (speculation) and I need to find another whole day that doesnt exist.

The gotcha with your plan is also that we will just get people voting for everything under the sun without wanting to buy it which makes the whole exercise pointless. We also never know what the actual pricing will be on a bean until we pay for it (currency and market fluctuations can change the price daily) and dont know the volume available until the last minute.

The wishing well works well to give us an idea of what people would like to try/see, often the beans are no longer available or the sample quality is too far off the previous batch and we dont get it.... but we do keep it on the radar for future samples and when we do get the bean we know to add some extra to the order.

Its also great for something that we have just had in BeanBay as often we can get back to the brokers and grab some more before they sell-out (unless we bought their only stock initially).

With the Wahgi we got lucky (although I do hope to get some more later in the year and am still trying to source some more of the Kinjibi which I liked too). The Tiger Mountain was also in the wishing well and the container was unloaded last week (nice timing!). The Bolivian origin was requested and we have a ripper on the way (might be 2 months off though as its still on the water). We also have a great Nicaraguan estate coffee enroute and a couple of special coffees for the next BeanBay. Some of the other beans in the wishing well are available but I didnt like the current crop samples so Ill hold-off and wait for future shipments.

I guess the real punchline is that if you missout on something that you requested there will be other awesome beans in the BeanBay that you should enjoy too.

    ;-)
