Does the coffee cause you heartburn?
Or are you looking for a separate cure for each?

I love my coffee but heartburn seems to happen more often.

If it is a persistant problem do a search for "Cold Press Coffee" the process reduces the acids in the syrup and results in a less acidic brew. Either that or some beans are less acidic than others depending on roast and brew method (at least I have found that).

Try anything first than give up the bean :)

Chamomile tea works amazing for heartburn, try having 1 before your coffee, if that dont work have 1 after.

    Hi summercrema,

sorry to hear, about your situation.
please go see your doctor and get it checked out, you dont need to suffer this problem.

bananas, jam, Vegemite, spicy foods *most other acid foods. drinks too like too much coffee, brandy and dry, baileys Irish cream etc. All of which i like lots.

Definitely worth a visit to your GP. I had "heartburn" since my early teens but was always told it was either (a) normal - my dad suffered too, or (b) because Id eaten too much - I was never exactly a light eater.

Several years ago it got unbearable, and tests revealed a sliding hiatus hernia - and was in fact reflux. The term "heartburn" covers many things including what is actually reflux, a bad condition. Its essentially stomach acid working its way back up. Other causes are a bacteria in the stomach (H.Pylori) which is curable (my condition isnt).

Anyhoo, dont worry about foods you cant eat - get medication that will solve the problem. Zantac (over the country) may give you relief, alternatively ask your GP about Losec or better still Nexium (presently the best drug).

As per the previous post I have suffered from heart Burn since Moses was a boy. A trip to the GP and now on Nexium which has stopped it all together. I can drink as much coffee as I like. It is also best to get checked out for other causes. I only suffer from reflux no other nasties. :)

Im in the same boat as DavidR, have been since the early 90s. After a visit to my GP and then a Gastro specialist, and being prescribed the drugs mentioned above, it was like my life had just started over again, for the better. Its definitely worth your while to see your GP and get the problem sorted. You mightnt have anything really serious going on but theres plenty that can be done to sort out pretty well any condition causing your problems.

Lifes too short to not enjoy drinking and eating wonderful food and coffee "V".... ;)

Id endorse all of the above comments, and just add that it might well be worth incorporating a good quality yoghurt regularly into your diet - the acidophillus acts as an acidity tamer in the gut.

Traditional Indian curries are served with natural yoghurt & herbs/cucumber (raita) to balance the meal.

Just dont add a dollop to your espresso though :P
