^ My passenger to the Relay venue...

I would suggest that the BOOT would be safer for all parties *;) * The human body molds and has extremities to assist in remaining in the seatbelts. *One of the reasons why kids under 7 are not allowed in the front seat, as they often slip through and the Air bags also cause issues for growing and underdeveloped bodies.

The physics is such that; in a crash, the Coffee machine would just flick out and the front passenger would get a nasty projectile attempting to expend lots of kinetic energy. *NOT GOOD.

I have lost PCs and a monitor going to a TOG (The Older Gamers) lan meet... *Where I had set up my equipment in the same manner... *Damage to rear of passenger seat is still visible.

    Better safe than sorry.

Get the cargo net *stretchy style straps at the least and strap down in the boot. *

Mate...its an American pickup...it doesnt have a boot! What it has is 8 foot of vast open rear! Not safe at all for a delicate thing like this lady.

In this case, it was the safest place for this...a one minute drive from shop to venue...not much going to happen in this country town...and it didnt! ;D

Please dont lecture me about where to strap stuff down...Ive been loading horses, kids and motorbikes for as long as I can remember, it was always my job to load our car...I think I can manage...;)

I think "lecture" is a bit harsh scoots.
AM was merely voicing his concern for someone we all care a lot about.

Thank TG and your correct... *Even if Scoots is aware, I see many others doing the wrong thing every day. *Scoots - PM sent.

In addition as an ex racer 500cc class and an avid motor bike rider, it always tends to happen just up the road from home. *I am the only one left out of 9 alive and have also been on the other side...

It is only once things happen that it become important, as until then it is never on the horizon. *

I still store my steering wheel lock under my seat, yet know of two people who have had there ankles broken as it flies forward in an accident...

Back on topic: *What the main focus of the post did for me however, was to think about getting work to buy a machine for our senior meetings etc.

They get a budget for coffee (Instant), milk and some plain biscuits (cream filled not allowed); thus some funds for the raw material... * Plain sandwiches not hot food or snakes... *Government guidelines, can not be seen to be frivolous with the publics monies.

Us front-line and operational staff have to provide our own...

Hence the issue is who pay and who get to use / *make use of the final product... *Politics at all levels.

I am in strife with having the EM6910 @ work as it is... * *Some do not like the smell and when letting new staff try (Those that want a coffee and to learn) other complain that the sequel when steaming milk (learning issue) is a WHS problem and could damage hearing.. *Thus a system with an exposed group head that would get hot is another WHS issue.

NOTE: *Unit was is in my enclosed but open office.... *Now, with the Quality Officer *and his door can be shut.

However I am still working on getting a machine of some sorts ?? *That will address WHS and allow us to have coffee at lunchtime the odd meeting and maybe able to step up and meet the number at the monthly BBQ.

The hardest part will be that Coffee making is no longer identified in any position descriptions, so who will make the coffee... * And if I do it, then it would be an issue as it is not in my roll description... Oh the bureaucracy :-?

Where is the old fashioned [s]Girl/Boy[/s] * Person Friday ?

Semi auto, lots of milky coffees, not plumbed etc etc *and cheep *::) *( New post / topic coming soon)

Gotta love bureaucracy gone mad AM. Nice to see no-one gets concerned that they might burn their mouth on a snag over the barbie! * ;D

Recently sent a trio of aeropress to someone moving into a "green office" as they werent allowed to have a coffee machine running - I think due to power consumption. No wonder the suicide rate is on the increase!

Its an issue for lots of people these days... We live in a society that is in many cases focused on supporting and rewarding self serving interests and in some cases out right Narcissism... *Well, that is how I see it. :(

While there are some good points that get raised, all to often it gets out of hand...

WHS is a big issue that needs to be managed but in many cases it has progressed to the extent that no one has any accountability for their actions and that there has to be some one else to blame.

Just like the heads on the E61 units Warning stickers... *Yes there needs to be some advice by the manufacturer, but the end user has to take some responsibility... *Its like people who put their hand into a running lawn mower or whipper sipper and then sue the manufacturer for damages... They thought it was made to cut grass, not flesh... *Doh. *Problem - you can not legislate against stupidity but you can encourage it.

Watch the B grade movie Idiocracy the first 10 -15 minutes is a scream... Problem is that it is too close to the truth to the extent that it hurts.

For us at work, it is a combination of Policy, WHS, Respect for Others and in some cases at the expense of the majority.

    WHS Issues.

    1: Noise
2: Heat - Machine and product
    3: Smell

Two of which can be managed with some basic training and warning notices...

Regardless of the third, I will persist in the pursuit of the right to have a true coffee at work.

NOTE: Without a RED zone in this forum; it is not my intention to offend but to draw attention to some of the side issues around staff having access to coffee in the workplace.

If you are not allowed a coffee machine because of heat!!!! what about pouring boiling water for tea without waterproof heat-insulated gloves??

Do they also provide steel mesh gloves when you cut a birthday cake???

A friend got around the no weapons policy when it included his 50mm pocket knife by binning every knife in the kitchen--they changed the policy.

    Good luck mate.

    I had a laugh

At the last place I worked they brought in a similar weapons policy but they way it was worded it about not passing through the security points.
So the fruit knife Id previously brought to work couldnt be taken home.

Funny thing to me is that I dont need any weapons or in a pinch could use so many things around the office.

These rules are made by wimpy bureaucrats that couldnt fight their way out of a wet paper bag.

The foil from the instant coffee tins at my last place was more dangerous than an EM6910.
