Melb Cafe Day September - Veneziano Caffe

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
WOW... what a great day out we had at Veneziano Caffe. *Site sponosr Peter opened his doors to about 15 CSrs and David Makin worked the machine.

We got to see a couple of 500gm air roasts and a couple of end to end roasts on the 60kg fire breathing monster. *

The new show room and demo centre is nearly completed next door and should be open for business soon. *It will be an awesome place for CS to hang and learn more about the hobby we all love so much.

Veneziano Caffe is located at 22 Bond Street, Abbotsford and well worth checking out next time you are after some exceptional brown beans, a new espresso machine or just to drop-in for a cuppa.

A huge THANKS goes out to Peter & David for really making the large bunch of us feel so welcome.

Yes, it was excellent - unfortunately I was pretty late in arriving but I still managed to pick up some good tips and Peter graciously gave me a guided tour of his facility well beyong the advised cut off time. Kudos to all involved.

Id like to add my thanks to Peter and David for their time and hospitality. Its a wonderful thing to meet people so passionate about delivering a great product. Also, not too shabby to have a coffee made for you by David!

VERY much appreciated and Im really looking forward to seeing the demo centre up and running.

Plus, thanks to Andy for lugging the huge payload of beans up to Melbourne!

    Brett.

Wish that I couldve been there! Were any of the prototype new HX machines set up? Did Pete hand out any of the Daterra Peaberry? He gave me some last week. I gather he bought every single bean that came into Australia, so maybe hes squirreling it away ;P

Yep. As good a time as any to say that I have been offered the job there on Saturdays. Of course, I took it - too much of a unique opportunity to pass up. Our custom La Marzocco FB-80 should arrive in time for an opening around mid next month and were working out how we can run a roast-your-own system using the 500g roaster, which, as far as I know, is not something that has ever been done before. Presumably the real reason for it is that Pete just wants an excuse to buy a new sample roaster ;P Still, it will be nice to have a way to get awesome, fresh roasted rare beans, like the yauco selecto into the hands of people who will appreciate them. And, of course, the place will be open just for a cuppa.

If you have any ideas for what we should be doing, or what you want us to source, let us know.

    Cheers,

    Luca

Thank you for your kind words and for coming in to visit on Saturday. I speak for both David and myself, we really enjoyed having you here and having cup some blends etc.., As you know it is always an open invitation to any one to pop in for a cuppa and a chat...

What a terrific day it sounds like you had - and some great innovation with that roast-your-own idea. After all if you can go and brew beer on a site, why not roast coffee? 500 grams is a good batch seize for most I reckon.
