Perhaps later we could get some quality shirts made up etc?
Who here has the flair to design a great CoffeeSnobs logo?
IMHO, the ideal logo should be fairly simple and easy to reproduce both on webpages (errr... like here) and on letterhead (ie: B&W laser printer).
Entries can be emailed to me or posted in this thread.
When we have a few we will run a poll and the highest vote getter will win a 3kg bag o beans freighted to their door and the warm fuzzy feeling of seeing their logo "up in lights" on the site. :o
Perhaps later we could get some quality shirts made up etc?
Yeah, I cant see why not if enough people wanted them.
If a logo can print on a B&W laser printer ok then it would lend itself to screenprinting or needlework or even embossing.
...embossed logo on the CS 2kg home roasters? ;D
Perhaps a picture of a Kangaroo squating over a Starbucks dropping a load. ;D ;D ;D
Java "Thats not coffee, its Starbucks!" phile
Not too sure if you know Java but kanga dung does look a little like french roasted coffee beans ;D...dropping a load
;D ;D ;D I thought it would be appropriate. ;D ;D ;DOriginally Posted by Andy Freeman link=1113488874/0#4 date=1113561854
Java "In a blind taste test no one could distinguish between the Roo Doo and Starbucks beans" phile
I think the roo poo would taste better than Gloria Jeans coffee.
I HATE that shit. ha ha ha ha
:P :-X :-/
But on a more serious note, what are the specific design requirements for the logo? size etc..
well then I nominate you for the blind cupping of those two delights Clarexican.
We expect cupping notes in the forum over the weekend. ;)
A yes... thanks for getting us back on track ;)
There are no real specific requirements, I would rather leave it fairly open initialy so as not to restrict the design.... and let the clever arty people "do their thing".
Love the idea of the roo and s*arb*&^cks, but thought that something a little more conventional might be a good way to set the bean rolling......
P.S. Ive never actually tried s*arb*&^cks, so wouldnt want to be accused of prejudice :-X
Im not an Artist of any sorts, However some of you might be... what about the head of a Gent from earlier times with his nose stuck up in the air Sipping on a shot of coffee... the Gengentleman being the Snob.
One thing we must remember is the heavier the pick the more ink will be used in any form of printing, thus higher overall costs etc.
Just a thought thats all
hey I like that logo el espressio.... the O-beans are cool.
You have a flair for this! ;D
I know you can get coffee mugs quite cheaply.... I did a 3 colour run for my work, and they ended up being around $12 each (included your name on the mug)..... for the first batch because you have to pay for the artwork to be set-up in the computer program. It was also only a batch of 36.Originally Posted by HV_MAN link=1113488874/0#1 date=1113528481
still quite reasonable though....
something to think about
Yes, there are no end of promo items these days, some are good and some are.. err.. questionable. Maybe we can look at CS rubber chickens ;)
Looking for some more logo entries too so we can put a poll up.
Well, heres the results of playing around with PSP for a while:
A bigger version can be seen at:
Im not sure about the nose on the N.
Ive also got a version using a normal N instead.
Very cool Fatboy...
Did you draw the cups too?
When we get to the polling of these logos you can put the N-nose and N-noNose and let the members decide. :o
I just love democracy. ;D
The cup is from a generic, non-copyright clipart.
Originally in colour and had other parts to it.
Cleaned up, altered, grey scaled and used with impunity!
Another attempt - works quite well as 1cm x 1cm as an icon.
Looks great el espressio, the font looks familiar but I dont know where from.
Very striking image though.
Heres my first attempt. ;D
Ill try and get a couple more on the go soon.
Great stuff Warren.
The more the merrier.
Heres another one folks. :)
1st logo again with the steam modifed to "CS".
This is fun! ;D
On a roll here;
Heres a slightly goofy one. Simple and seems to work. :)
I dont know if its as good as the others... but it was fun to do! esp when procrastinating :)
Very nice Clarexican!
It has an aboriginal flag feel about the colour use and very "outback sunset" type scenery.
My 10 year old daughter saw me working on a logo and decided that the whole concept of being able to design something on the computer looks "cool".
This is her design. ;D
Warren & Stephanie
I rather like the entry from Warren with CS in the steam. Would be interesting to see a version without the background and without the text below it. That would make it nice for a web page, hard copy, coffee mug and could also be used as a watermark.
See Im providing artistic input rather than output! ;D
Cheers Wired. :)
You mean something along these lines?
Artistic input is good too Wired... not many of us have the flair required to design a logo but most of us do have the critique skills (even if not publicly) to know what we like. ;)Originally Posted by Wired link=1113488874/15#28 date=1113948535
Member ideas may even help the artists!
I was thinking like this with a transparent background:
Well done Stephanie!Originally Posted by warren link=1113488874/15#27 date=1113946383
I can see the little lady has your gene for design Warren.
I think a mix of Warrens original design and those ideas might work too....
....and then use el espressios last font for the wording?
Ah good work with the Photoshop guys! :P
Wired. Background would be transparent. I just exported from CorelDraw as a .JPG.
White background is just because I didnt bother pushing through photoshop to cut background first. ;)
Stephanie will be pleased with comments Andy. She doesnt want to follow in my footsteps. She loves rocks and wants to be a Geologist. ;D
Like this Phantom? :D
Also like to chuck in a fresh one while Im here. ;)

Yep, something like that ;D :D :)
I really like that font but prefer my take "CS" steam though.... a tad more subtle.
Off-topic but...Originally Posted by warren link=1113488874/30#34 date=1113956219
Im blown-out that a 10 year old even knows what a geologist is ;D Good for her!
Hey are those cups for sale Warren? ;D
Drop the 2nd S off Snobs and it would suit my level of distain for the plebs drinking instant around me at work. ;D
I think the CS in the steam is too subtle Phantom as I had to have another look at Warrens original to see the difference. The CS in Warrens design could certainly stand a little tweaking but it still needs to be obvious that they are letters IMHO.
The letters could stand a bit of animation too for web use. Undulating kind of stuff.
I guess it depends if "Coffee Snobs" is written under the logo or not. With a little tweaking the steamy CS could work too.Originally Posted by Wired link=1113488874/30#39 date=1113961432
Its all fun and I like most of the posts so far. Just wish I had some artistic talent myself sometimes. Maybe Stephanie can donate some unneeded genes!! :)
Variation on a theme - I prefer lower case, but the ascenders (as in ff and b) make it a bit awkward. The font is Papyrus™
I think Warrens has some nice things about it. If anyone is good at Photoshop or Illustrator, that CS would look nice as the stirred milk/chocolate on the top of a milk brew.
Yep Andy, shes 10 years old. Wants to be a Geologist, has a room full of rocks that Im always tripping over and is about to become a 2nd degree Taekwondo blackbelt (has been a first dan for some time now) and can break wood with her hands and feet. :)
Wired and Phantom... Ive tweaked the CS somewhat. Keep the suggestions coming guys. ;D
El Espressio. Love the chequerboard appearance. Looks awesome. :D
There ya go El Espressio! ;D ;D
I made a couple of new logos..... as ideas
Heres one of my efforts, still working on another.
Heres the second one....
The first two have a "Route 66" sort of retro feel to them (if that makes sense).
I like the last one too.
We have lots to choose from now, Ill put them up in a poll Saturday night...so that is the cut-off for submissions.
Keep the great ideas coming CSers ;D
Nice typography Clarexican. ::)
Heres another un.
Bit of a play on an existing one.
Also something similar with an espresso cup. Guess youd call it a Macchiato logo. The CS is the stain of milk. 8)
