So... how about the other capital cities? Any chance of some members putting-up their hands to organise a local one?

If we can get these to happen in other states too then we can maybe look at getting the poll coffee pre-bagged and shipped in bulk to nominated members for cheaper local distribution.

    ??? ::) 8) :o ;D ;)

We could always set aside a spot for you at bg&d on the 14th... then we look like the nutters talking to an empty chair. :)

Maybe we will work on the web cam setup for a future event... ;)

bg&d is so much better than a city cafe, thats why its worth the drive and Box Hill is only a quick squirt up the freeway.
...anyway its only up the road from Woodend... Ill race you from Geelong and see who gets there the fastest :D

The biggest problem with city cafes is the lack of car parking but looking forward to suggestions on future venues.

...and really looking forward to bg&d

We do! Its in St Georges Rd, Northcote but only seats 22 people inside. This is a peak time Saturday morn so we would struggle to accomodate you guys and yet still make a buck out of our regulars- hence the choice of Box Hill which is bigger..... ;D

    I agree Phantom. ;)

We have large pockets of snobs all over the country. The user map shows 1/3rd of them...

    http://www.coffeesnobs.com.au/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=news;action=mmall;defmap=Australia

It would be great to get some "local user goups" happening for savings in freight, knowledge transfer and even just to have a cuppa!

Id be interested. Unfortunately, being a coffee snob I generally dont order coffee from coffeeshops :-/ Best Ive had recently was at Merlo in Newfarm, but its not really a coffeeshop.

Well with 7 people so far and a couple of others that have told me they will be there it looks like a good first get together. ;D

I have had some suggestions of the timing of future Cafe Days....

Would a Friday evening suit the city dwelling CSrs better next month? (good for those already in the city I guess)

Or maybe a Sunday arvo session?

If anyone wants to bring some freshly roasted coffee up my way we should be able to cram into the kitchen.

Re: CoffeeSnobs Café Day - May 05

    Hi HV_MAN

It sort of is and sort of isnt a cg thing because really the only common factor is that we all met each other through cg but that shouldnt exclusively make the gathering just for cgs.

The idea behind the gathering is to really get like minded coffee lovers together and to network and swap ideas (ie: blend & roasting tips etc.), taste lots of different coffees we would never have the chance to and use some equipment we would never otherwise get the chance to use as well ie: vac pots/ naked portafilters etc. etc.

So yes it is a cg organised event but really EVERYONE is welcome - absolutely!

    Hope to see you there!

    Anne ;)

Re: CoffeeSnobs Café Day - May 05

;D Well the very first CoffeeSnobs Cafe Day was a huge hit. ;D

Chris (2muchcoffeeman) was the perfect host and the 14 odd CoffeeSnobs that could make it on the day were treated to hours of perfect shot coffees at the very busy bean ground & drunk.

bean ground & drunk (539 Middleborough Rd, Box Hill North) is a cafe full of friendly staff, great food and of course.... great coffee.

Thanks to all the CoffeeSnobs that made it. It was great to catch-up and have a chat about... ummm... errrr... mostly coffee. ;)

Jill Adams from the William Angliss Coffee Academy also dropped-in for a coffee and she has some exciting ideas for our next Cafe Day in June. Ill post more details on this later in the week.

bean ground & drunk is a slick operation with a very friendly feel, if you are in the area (or near the Nothcote store) drop-in and give it a try.

    Thanks Chris!
    ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

PS: If you need directions to the Northcote store just ask Boris ;)

Thanks to Chris from Bean Ground & Drunk, he was a very generous host. I would recommend anyone to drop by and sample their coffee.

It was great to meet more CoffeeSnobs and thanks to everyone for sharing there processes and tips.

Hope to see you all next month.

    Regards
    Daniel

Thanks to all who attended and especially to Andy for the organisation of the event. It was an honour to host a group of like-minded individuals! I just wish we were a tad quieter so I could have spent a little more time chewing the beans with you all. Hope this is the first of many *:D

This sounds like a great idea. One thing I really need to do is calibrate my taste buds. For all I know I might be making dreadful coffee at home. Alas, Sunday conflicts with another activity this time around (caffeine vs adrenaline ;)).

So Ill have to bow out this time. Will this be a regular gathering, because Id love to come and meet some coffee gurus.
