Yeah, noticed that the other day..... Im not the first though, I think Chriss posts under both handles of 2mcm and Talk Coffee total way more than 5000.

Anyway, its not the posts total that counts, its whats in em that counts ;)

    When does this competition close?

Its been a bit too hot lately but I think this is a good excuse to play with some of my cool-but-dangerous lasers and lenses!
If we get a night soon with some low cloud coverage this should prove some fun! (It always has in the past) ;)

And here is 250mW of CS on my front door (other side of house) One with normal shutter, the other with exposure at -2.
Dosent look that bright? Remember these were taken in the middle of the day.

Might help with a lower exposure...

Now I need to think of some good public places to hit... The GP might be a bit risky (as it is illegal...) But I can focus it from up to a few hundred meters away so it is quite stealthy.

    Re: 5000th CoffeeSnob contest.

    OK Here is one.

I work at Arena Joondalup which is the largest sporting ccomplex in WA. I manage the aquatic centre and have pretty early starts. Hence Coffee is my friend when starting at 4:30am in the morning.

The electronic info board is used to display what lanes are booked and what are available to the public. In between the lane information displays The coffeesnob advert displayed brightly as it welcomed the morning swimmers. I got a few questions about it and told them to log on and check it out.

Anyway this was my effort. I will display a short video when I get it up on the web.

It amazes me how stupid some people can be... I have a small 5mW pointer and I wouldnt even point that at anything in view of someone operating any type of vehicle, let alone at the driver/pilot.

I am sure my toy could get CS on the news (would that be good or bad publicity?) But Im not going to use it, unless I find a really good, safe place to... (an outdoor festival or something would be perfect)

Or maybe I should just stick to the data projector for advertising...

Actually Ive just made an estimate, over the past 2 weeks the average sign-up rate is about 7.54 members per day, so that means we can expect our 5000th member on around... 27th of May? Cool, gives me time to think of a good idea for this comp :)

Well it didnt surprise the regulars, They already know I am a coffeesnobs as they hear me grinding my beans in the office and smell the aroma of freshly ground and brewed coffee and am often sighted with either the plunger or coffee cup in my hand.

Wouldnt you at 4:30 in the morning? :)

    Re: 5000th CoffeeSnob contest.

4:30am is very much time for at least one coffee. *Heck you are at work well before the otherside of the country is and we have a 3 hour head start!

My first entry into the comp!

We do a Good Friday fundraiser for the Royal Childrens Hospital each year. *Its a country footy oval and everyone donates "junk" for the charity auction. *The pub shouts a keg of beer and CS do coffee for the 100-200 punters on the day. *Beer, coffee and hot chocolate are swapped for "tickets" that people buy so we dont have to worry about money handling and change.

We did 100+ coffees and at least as many hot chocolates. *Most of the coffee was earlier in the day and most of the hot chocolates were kids spending their parents "beer tickets". *
    :)
For the first time we offered the orange and the spiced chocolate as an option to milk and dark chocolate... they were all a big hit with the most amount of adult "Aaaahhhhs" muttered over the spiced chocolate.

On the coffee front we sold Espresso Wow! in the cup and had a range of single origin and blends in the 250g packets for sale as whole bean or ground on the spot.

Twas a long but fun day and the Giotto worked like a trooper. *I dont know the overall $ figure but its always pretty high for a small town.

Sorry, I only managed a couple of pics, was busy, busy, busy.

    8-)

    My 2nd Entry

Its a bit primative but it does overlook a busy main road and next to a bus stop, so it should get some exposure.
( This is in my backyard by the way). *I will leave it up for as long as the competition or it breaks. (which ever occurs first) *;D
