Shaving head to raise money for Jeans for Genes (now with extra short hair)

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Good afternoon to you all

I have decided to raise some money having my head shaved. I have attached some photos of the locks to be clipped.

I will be shaving it for Jeans for Genes day which is a major fundraiser for the Childrens Medical Research Institute (CMRI).

"CMRI is an independent organisation committed to unlocking the mysteries of disease. *Our scientists investigate conditions such as birth defects, cancer, and epilepsy. *Our philosophy is that major advances in prevention and treatment come from research into the fundamental processes of life."

I will be shaving my head on Jeans for Genes day - This Friday 7th August 2009.

If you would like to donate to this cause please feel free to respond here or PM me.
I have contacted Jeans for Genes and to make donation easier and more user friendly you are able to donate online. If you follow the following link you can donate directly to them.

    https://www.jeansforgenes.org.au/Donation-Landing-page/default.aspx

At the bottom of the form there is a notes section - If you could put "Donation for Shannons Jeans for Genes head shave" that would be great, just so I am able to keep a track of donations.

I do have an official sanction to "Conduct an appeal for support in relation to the childrens medical research institute NSW"
    NSW Licence No. CFN 10331.

Friday is supposed to be 23 degrees in Sydney which is great but then for the week after it is going to be in the low teens so........ beanies all round me thinks *:)

Thankyou for any support that is forthcoming.

    Shannon.

When I have a chance I will call or email my contact within CMRI and see if I can set up an official transfer from the donators end straight into CMRI accounts so that it takes away that dodgey feeling that I am a "middle man"
See if you can get that sorted Shannon, it will make it easier for people to donate.

I just did too. Their website is a little clunky, someone should tell em to setup a PayPal donate button next year... makes it quick and easy.

    **cack**

It must be a long time since Shannon had short hair, even longer since he had stubble. Im sure it will be a shock to the system (and everyone that knows him).

Ok so I now officially have a cold head :)

Allison took the camera to work to show them, so photos will be up tomorrow.
Thankyou to those who have donated thus far. If you still would like to donate to the cause you are still able to follow the link above. I will be collecting donations until 31st August, I think at a rough count so far I may have nearly cracked the $1000 mark which I am quite stoked about.
Photos to follow of an ugly mug looking even worse now ;D

Time to show off the new haircut

Thankyou once again to those who have supported this cause.

If you were thinking of donating, but have not as yet - never fear the "lines are still open" as they say. I will not be finalising the donation for about a week or so as I am still receiving sponsorship from other areas.

Have fun watching the process in photos.

BTW 3AM is not a great time to have no hair - beanies dont help much either after having a natural heater for 5 or so years ;)

    Awesome effort Shannon. *Well done!

How much shampoo and conditioner did you use this morning in shower?

    Did you scare the kids?

    ;D

Congratulations on the great effort Shannon!

I can relate to the weird feeling of hairlessness as after I got out of the service I let my hair grow for 20 years with-out it being cut before shaving it all off. I must say though that I did enjoy not having the long hair in the hot and humid summer here. Ive shaved it all off several times since when its gotten really hot. :)

The good news is that it will quickly grow back. Then you can do it all over again! :)

Me too. I will never forget the feeling of putting my head on the pillow the 1st night after cutting off my long hair and then shaving it with a razor back to skin. Whoa!

Not so for all of us JP :( Male pattern baldness has set in now, so the clippers have become my lifelong friend.

Good job Shannon! That was mighty long hair to take the blades to.

Re: Shaving head to raise money for Jeans for Genes (now with extra short hair)

    Good afternoon all

I thought that Id give you all an update on how things stand donation wise.

I have a few donations still to come, but I am pretty much finished up now.

    can I hear drums rolling.....

Apparently my hair is worth just under $1300!!!!!

I am hoping with the last few donations to push it over the $1300 mark, have to get about $25 for that.

Thankyou to those who donated to a great cause, I am sure that the money will certainly be put to good use.

    Cheers
    Shannon.
