Fantastic. No more Randwick. Looking forward to this.
The Australian Coffee Festival and Cafe Biz 2011 will be held at the Royal Melbourne Show Grounds this year.
When: 21st 22nd May 2011
Where: RASV centre, Royal Melbourne Show Grounds
Cafe Biz is Australias favourite cafe tradeshow and this year it is going to be expanded to include something really exciting...
A first for Cafe Biz and CoffeeSnobs will be two days of CoffeeSnobs Beanology
We will have a special CoffeeSnobs series of sessions that will include roasting, growing, processing, machine maintanance and roast profiling under the banner of CoffeeSnobs Beanology with industry professionals from Australia and abroad hosting short presentations in their area of expertise. We will also run some hands-on sessions and run some live demos.
There will be a small charge to cover the overheads (circa $50) but it should be the best weekend of CoffeeSnobbery ever!
We are still scratching-out the specifics but wanted to let everyone know about it early so you can pencil that weekend-in, plan your trip to Melbourne and find somewhere to bunk.
Ill be counting down the days, its going to be a blast!
Fantastic. No more Randwick. Looking forward to this.
Wow! That sounds great Andy 8-) - Wish I was up to travelling....
Oooo will have to see what I can do :)
Would be great if i can make it there from here, but work is always beckoning.
Am sure it will be a great weekend.

Plenty of frequent flyer points so a Melb visit in May could be on the cards ;) ;)
Fantastic Andy. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
So good that such an event as this is in Melbourne. Great venue to hold it also.
Accomodation booked and ready to come for some fantastic coffee banter with fellow C.Ss and GREAT coffees, machines, etc. Over 100 coffee related businesses so the promos say. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!
Counting down. :) Cant wait.
Herbie and the Missus.
Awesome & I live in Melbourne! Outlook diary is booked; and I can maybe meet some of the snobs whom help so much! Awesome!
Ready to book in, good coffee, ,playing with toys and a birthday a few days after for another excuse :)
OK beanflying, with all that cellebration looming, I will shout the first good coffee and we can discuss Port Fairy coffee outlets and Terangs dirty equipment. Oh, on second thoughts I will just shout the coffee... ;D
Registered at Cfebiz & Found a serviced apartment in Nth Melbourne about a block from Di Bella that looks good for a few days. Pavoni and Kyocera space allocated in the bag along with the pushbike to get around 8-)
Really looking forward to this!
Look out Sydney...Melbourne is going to rock. ;D ;D
I am registered and in; it is local and all for me!* Not sure if I have registered beyond my capabilities with first beans being roasted just 4 weks earlier.* ::) (Dont tell the organisers or they may revoke my invite!* :-X* )
But I am sure I will absorb, learn, admire, yearn and overall enjoy the event while becoming a better educated snob!
Looking forward to it!
Cool I will be there ;D
We should have more details to post about this soon.
Should be a fun couple of days.
sounds like a great weekend, might check my calender :)
Already booked flights to Melbourne! Happy coincidence!
Details on: http://beanology.info
(or click the ad at the bottom of the forum)
Tickets available in BeanBay "Other Stuff" now.
...and some more good news.*
In the session area we will have few special coffees and a couple of quality espresso machines setup for everyone to grab a coffee through the weekend.
Its funny that most coffee events Ive been to around the world its darn hard to find a coffee.* We will fix that!
There are also a couple of surprise guests in the wings that will be able to show you a thing or two on the machines.
I have purchased my ticket and will be there both days.
Really looking forward to it, great value for money, well done Andy.
Ticket booked and paid yesterday.
Yeah good coffee too :) Last coffee event i got to was to busy on the other side of the counter roasting to get much in the way of coffees for the day.
Just booked my flights and purchased my Beanology ticket :D :D :D :D :D :D
Should be a huge weekend, looking forward to meeting heaps of fellow CSers :) :) :)
I can smell a prize for the "longest distance travelled".
Nice work Greenman.
If any interstate CSrs are stuck for a lift from the airport (or from their hotel on the day) then just hollar, Im sure there are enough local CSrs to do some car pooling to help out.
Melbourne in may.. It does have a nice ring to it.
Although I am saving for Rocket Giotto Evo at the moment.. Maybe I will have to miss this one. See what the situation is at work at that time I have been thinking that I want to go to Melbourne for a bit of a holiday again before I start uni again..
Either way Im sure itll be a great event and an awesome experience for anyone who gets to attend.
tickets been booked.
Well, its a long(ish) drive from Adelaide, but were going. Or at least I am, Mrs KJM is, I think, going to look at quilting stuff :o
Look forward to meeting some non-Adelaide CSers!
Most places are a longish drive from Adelaide and whilst its nice to be away, its even nicer to get back!* ;)
Ditto to KJMs post.
Well be sharing a cabin at a nearby caravan park. Might be a good venue for
a roast off, Im sure the neighbours would love it. :)
Anyone else from SA turning up?
Ill be passing over SA on way to Beanology, cant wait to meet up with everyone, should be a highly caffeinated weekend :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :DOriginally Posted by 323B20383F3B345A0 link=1297257127/26#26 date=1302782873
Unless you pack a parachute, Im not sure that really counts! Looking forwards to meeting you and others Greenman!Originally Posted by 534651515A59555A340 link=1297257127/27#27 date=1302783390
Woo Hoo! Ordered and paid for tickets. Should be fantastic. More Sandgropers on the way ;D ;D ;D
Another sandgroper? Furthest travelled becomes harder if pick :)
Awesome to see a crew building from SA too.
We will have plenty of great coffee for everyone and a few surprises in the works. Roll on the end of May!
Hey Andy - small and possibly insignificant question: is there any parking at or near the venue?
Some of us will be staying in non-public transport serviced accommodation and will probably need to drive to the actual site. Any info for us non-Melbournians gratefully accepted ::)
There is a heap of parking beside the showgrounds at Flemington racecourse Kevin. Plenty of parking as well in the local area, so you will have no problems whatsoever.Originally Posted by 19181F520 link=1297257127/31#31 date=1302994342
Thanks for that. Google Maps shows some parking, but it is a bit hard to judge just how much there really is. I guessed that "showgrounds" implied a lot of parks, but you never know....
Any of you interstate boys and girls need a lift and are staying in the Northern / Western suburbs let me know.
I will be coming in from the Melbourne Airport area both days and have plenty of room in the car.
This does sound like a great weekend!
Steps required for trip to Victoria.
Step 1. Convince work that I should have the weekend off.
Step 2. Convince wife that this will be good for our marriage and my long term sanity* ;D
Step 3. Convince myself that having my wife running loose in Melbourne with a credit card is worth a weekend of Beanology!
Fingers crossed my simple 3 step plan pays off. Was also just wondering if there is a limit on ticket numbers? And does the overhead charge cover us at the front gate? Not that 10 Bucks will stop me.
There will be plenty of free parking inside the showgrounds. Details like which gate to enter will be posted closer to the event when we get the information (gate numbers etc) from the RASV.Originally Posted by 0706014C0 link=1297257127/31#31 date=1302994342
Nice one Barrel. Im sure that will help someone.Originally Posted by 2E2D3E3E29204C0 link=1297257127/34#34 date=1303026248
Tickets for Beanology are limited. There is a finite amount of space and we want to keep it a small a friendly sized group so everyone gets great value.Originally Posted by 262D3F132F232A2A29294C0 link=1297257127/35#35 date=1303102318
Yep. The Beanology pass will let you wander in and out of the CafeBiz trade exhibitions, view the competition area and importantly, give you access to the Beanology sessions.Originally Posted by 262D3F132F232A2A29294C0 link=1297257127/35#35 date=1303102318
Tickets are now sold out.
There might be a handful of extra tickets released but I wont know until closer to the event.
If there are more tickets then Ill post it in this thread.
We do have some additional VIP Tickets that will give you free entry to the trade floor and competition area on Saturday 21st (saving you the $10 entry fee).
You can order them with any order or pickup from Morgan St.
If anybody needs a lift in from the Central/West let me know.
Just tried to book a ticket to the Beanology and its book outttttttt. I am travelling from Brisbane so now have :(
If there is a spare ticket going, please let me know.
Andy - I suspect that I have 2 tickets and actually only really need one. Mrs. KJM is (I think - it depends on what she and Mrs. Hazbean cook up between them ::) ) probably not going to be at the event at all (or if she is, itll be just brief hellos goodbyes).
So is there a way to alleviate my guilt of having 2 tickets when one might be the "right" number?
A queue may be forming ;)
I made the same error in judgement, booked airfares and accommodation for two from Tas and missed the Beanology tickets* :(
You did that in the wrong order, there are millions of beds and plane seats, only one CoffeeSnobs Beanology!
I suggest you post in the thread that Art started...
We will give these people the first crack (bad pun intended) at any additional tickets released.
minor question with the Beanology tickets are they pickup at the door or are they getting posted out? :)
I am quite happy to come down to Geelong if I need to pick them up at all.Originally Posted by 6760646B63697C6C6B62050 link=1297257127/44#44 date=1303710175
At the moment we expect tickets will be picked-up on the day but if logistics make more sense to freight them then we will do that at least a week before the event.
For those that purchased more than one ticket we will also email you soon to find out the name required on the second ticket.
Im traveling down from Brisbane also... So looking forward to this event... :)
What time does Cafe Biz open each day?? :( :)
As far as I know, doors are open...
9:30 to 5pm Saturday
10 to 5pm Sunday
