Well the visit to Five Senses was fantastic.... :) :) :) :)

A huge thanks to Dean for his extremely informative and interesting tour....

The cupping was very worthwhile and a different take on what Id previously done...... and the coffee roasting (and roasters) were to die for.....

Many (well mainly grendel ;)) enjoyed a play with the Synesso and the swift grinder (and he took lots of photos which we will no doubt see soon....)

Im sure all present thoroughly enjoyed their time at Five Senses.... and I cant wait to try the PNG AA (pre roasted) on my machine as well as roasting my own... Not to mention all the other great bean varieties....

Once again thanks to Dean and all the crew at Five Senses for a great day out!

    :) :) :) :)

    I had a ball.

The crew out there made us feel like honoured guests. It was a real opportunity to learn a lot more and Ill be days and days mulling things over - and writing about it to.

Add my thanks to JavaBs for an awesome afternoon.

I second everthing in Grendels and JavaBs posts above - what an awesome afternoon! Great to meet with some other Perth CSs too.

Sincere thanks Grendel for initiating and especially to Dean and his crew for such insightful and generous hosting!

Two days to go until the PNG PSC AAs go into the Mazzer... and counting *:)

    Cheers,

    Sam

I too am still on a coffee high. What a great day. How was the lunch. I had to get back to work unfortunately. I was buzzing on the way back up the freeway. Can you imagine cupping every friday afternoon.

Thanks to Dean and the 5 Senses staff for the afternoon and to Grendel for organising. (did the Synesso ever recover :) )

Good to meet some more CSers and stick faces to names.

    Hey there All,

Looks like it was a great and very informative day for everyone..... well done :). Any chance of adding a caption to the photo of the "usual suspects" so we can put faces to names? Adds to the interest ;)

Re: Coffee Snobs day out - Five Senses

my anonimity has already been blown, JavaB.... just check the pics from last weeks get to gether at Grants...

Grendel, thank you so much for the organisation of this marvellous afternoon... a genuine eye opener and i dont just mean the caffeine hit from the Ristrettos!

i couldnt wait, and chanced a small ristretto from the AAs this morning, and boy, was that nice.... put it up against a home roast blend of Brazil Yellow Bourbon, PNG PNC "A" and Guatamalan Antigua, and the difference in the depth and width of flavour was huuuuge.

ofcourse, the master roast Jay did on those AA beans would have had a major part to play in the developement of the flavour spectrum, against my inexperienced and pot-luck judge-by-eye Corretto roast.
    soooo much to learn....! :-/
