Looking good from my end Andy, yep experienced the lag you mention, no major drama.
We moved the site from HTTP to HTTPS last night and it went smooth(ish).
Spent many hours fixing some bugs and some still remain.
Mostly, you will see (Secure) in your browser URL bar, sometimes you will see the info saying that some images are not secure. We are fixing those as we find them and hope to have them all squashed in the next day or so.
The biggest bug at the moment is when posting a new message or replying to one. There is an odd 10-15 second lag and sometimes your browser will give a pop-up asking if you want to leave the site. You can click "leave" and the message will post.
This is a strange one and I'm not having much joy finding the cause but am still working on it.
Hopefully everything is back to normal soon
Looking good from my end Andy, yep experienced the lag you mention, no major drama.
When I click on 'leave page' it opens an error page re site requirements for a 30 sec interval between posts.
The post appears in the thread and under the thread banner but not in the thread notifications column on home page right ... at least not yet.....
Here's an interesting one.
I receive an Email notifying me of a post to a subscribed thread, click on the link and it takes me straight to the post logged in.
I open the CS page from a desk top short cut, takes me to the CS home page, however I have to log in every time I visit the site from a short cut.
Thought it may be a cookies thing, have checked settings, all seems OK.
No big deal, more nuisance value than anything, any thoughts?
Yelta, edit your desktop shortcut to:
...the "s" might be the difference between the two methods.
hmmm... I didn't get that one but do know the message. Might be a clue, there might some sort of loop before it tries HTTPS.requirements for a 30 sec interval between posts
I'll keep that in mind. Ta.
Sweet Yelta, that was the easiest fix in this unnecessary pseudo security saga.
I'm on a roll.
1: I think I've fixed the half secure Browser Bar issue, some site sponsor ads were not secure so internet browsers had a sook. I think I have them all locally now so they shouldn't complain.
2: I think I also fixed the lag on posting too. The forum was pulling YUI and jQuery information from Google when you hit post, the go out, come back, go out, come back was the lag. Pointed the query local to the server and it now posts faster and without the dopey browser message about leaving the site.
I think that's normal. There is some lag in that "Latest Posts" widget, it only updates "every so often" on a cycle. Mostly to stop a flurry of posts causing big server overheads. The post appears in the thread and under the thread banner but not in the thread notifications column on home page right
I can't find anything else broken at the moment.
If anyone finds something post it here or drop me a line via the contact us.
...and this post is to see if the lag is back...
(edit - the lag is gone again. Maybe it really is fixed!)
Checking if there is a lag ...... tool about 4 seconds for the post. No lag seen here.
Excellent its now https :-)

Lag test, was quite slow earlier this evening.
About 6 seconds now, seems fine to me.

I agree. A handful of seconds is normal, the timeout errors and browser pop-ups we oddly long.
I think we are good now. (phew)
Just so you are aware, because of the changes I was required to log back in, and following the Login I got a redirect error. I got around it, but looks like there is still a link without the https://
CS Error Note.png
And I'm back to "leave page- error page " then having to click on the forum tab to return to the home page......but maybe you're having a tweaking session......
Funnily enough... not for this post. It went straight up.

Something cached somewhere maybe? I can't replicate it long enough to troubleshoot it.
UUGGHH gotta love computers.
This is a test for Andy.
Worked like a charm. No error messages and only took at most a couple of seconds to post.

Very slow to upload a post this AM.
This one 25 seconds.
Hmmm, I've been having an issue with the Tapatalk app, all of a sudden it stopped letting me know if I'd have any notifications from CS, and this happened pretty much right when the site changed to https! Bingo...
Any other Tapatalk users have this issue, and what did you do to fix? All my other forums still notify me, just Coffeesnobs doesn't, so I'm assuming it has to do with this changeover...
Have contacted Tapatalk and they think it's a firewall issue of some sort, and Tapatalk not allowing new notifications to be posted because some things are blocked....? Obviously because of the site changeover..
No idea how to fix.. Thanks for any help anyone can give..
It's probably a connectivity issue between Tapatalk and your server. T
Please check you have not banned in your firewall:
-The Tapatalk IP Address that will require access to your server in open fashion is:*220.127.116.11
-and your web server is able to accept http post curl requests
Interesting. Surprised that the HTTPS made a difference (no firewall blocking of their servers either).
I've made a change at this end... please test.
I've done some more digging and there appears to be some sort of quirk on the Tapatalk site.
I've submitted a ticket request and will let you all know here when I think it's fixed.
Tapatalk has been crashing on CS more and more recently on iPhone (there’s another thread on that issue). Went to have a look at CS today and CS has dropped off the tapatalk list. Went to add it back in and CS isn’t showing up
In the search. Letting you know in case it’s related.
Yep CS has been removed completely from my forum list, and I can't even search for it for some reason... confusing ay... had to just come to the website forum to post.
Hopefully it gets sorted, I find Tapatalk very convenient and easy enough to use for forums
Also received this email back if it helps you Andy, but I've let him know that you've submitted a ticket so see how we go!
Did you disable the Tapatalk plugin on your site? I was trying to update the https in the directory for you. Thinking that might fix the problem. But found no plugin is installed on your site.
I had a dummy spit, totally removed tapatalk and then reinstalled it and it appears to be working now.
Let me know if there are any other quirks in the app I've missed.
When I try to post, I am still having the problem with the dialogue box that says "Leave Site? Changes you made may not be saved. LEAVE/CANCEL."
When I select "LEAVE" it double posts whatever I posted. I then go to the "Edit" option and select "Cancel" (to get rid of the extra post).
I then select "Cancel" again, and it gives me another box which says "Delete this post in the following manner" and requires me to tick a box that says "Delete Message" and then click on another box that says "Delete Post".
Same here. I copy the text I wrote, select cancel, and then check if it has posted, which is has. Weird.
Tapatalk still crashing randomly on iOS11, bit of a pain but no biggie, it usually works.
Sounds like the last few might be a local caching issue (old versions of the post page still referencing outside resources), try clearing your browser cache or hitting Ctrl+F5 to force a cache refresh.
Ah! I just got a CS notification in Tapatalk! Yyyuss! Potentially this is fixed
All good here, thanks
Update: Posting on web I dont get the "confirm leave page" message or whatever it was. Tapatalk still crashing randomly and fairly often on CS.
If you can get the tapatalk app to crash repeatedly or find a pattern, contact Tapatalk.
Their support for the app (not so much the server) is pretty good.
Hmmm now I'm not getting any notifications from ANY forum.. ugh... Not sure what's going on, just checked and there isn't any tapatalk update available to download..
FWIW, I've noticed subscription notification emails seem to be very slow coming through.
Working okay here. It might be your ISP.
Telstra and some others will "grey list" mail if they see a pile all sent at once to different addresses because that's the action of a spammer.
They hold it for a while to determine if there is another barrage of mail coming and if it doesn't then they "let it through".
Not much we can do about that, blame the spammers!
best a guess...
the laggy ones will have more subscribers than this thread which is likely to only be those that posted in it at most.
I'm not sure that I can easily see the numbers of subscribers to a thread. I'll have a scrounge sometime.
I am finding this site has become unusable as super slow to load on my Samsung S2 tablet. The little rotating circle symbol is rotating most of the time . Even when loaded going into a thread results in more delay. My internet is working reliably on other sites . Is there any cache I should be resetting to fix?
