CoffeeSnobs Van - The Vehicle Wrap is on!

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
The CoffeeSnobs van has a wrap at last!

Jason and Jamie at Mediapoint in Melbourne did the work while I was up in Port Macquarie and we picked it up late Thursday night when I got back (they were still open thanks to the odd small business hours that we all run). *Give the guys at Media Point a call if you are in the market for sign writing http://www.mediapoint.com.au

It looks even better in real life!

The first CoffeeSnob to spot it on the road was Tim, I had only driven it for 10 minutes when he rang my mobile to say "WOW, just drove past the van, it looks awesome"

We changed the design a little from the original comp winner that Sparrow and Goodies put together, the map of the world looked like off milk in test prints so I swapped it for an espresso shot and we simplified the "message" so that in 2 seconds the viewer should get that we are local, online and this is where to find us.

Now I can find a small positive to getting stuck in traffic now... and I have to be a good boy when driving it.
    8-)

    Very cool Andy.
Look forward to seeing it in real life next week at the pickup.

I think it is a testament to some peoples photoshop skills (and possibly the product itself) that the actual photos of the finished artwork could easily be another entry.

Do you have to re-mount your DIY rear-view camera?

Re: CoffeeSnobs Van - The Vehicle Wrap is on!

Thanks all, its been a long road but I wanted it done well and as I found, there are a lot of dodgy coyboys in the sign writing game! I knew pretty quickly that the young guys at Mediapoint were the ones that I wanted to work with, they were quick to respond to queries, knew their product, did it in-house and were great to deal with.

I think it is a testament to some peoples photoshop skills (and possibly the product itself) that the actual photos of the finished artwork could easily be another entry.
Andy puffs his chest out with a proud, nearly smug look and says:

I took the photos! The stock photograpy site wanted US$500+ for the picture of the cup and similar for the picture of the beans so I spent a couple of hours taking pictures in the driveway at home with a tripod, some black material and lump of board. Natural light photos are the best "studio shots" if you do it on an overcast day. The hardest was walking from the coffee machine with the espresso without sloshing it up the cup.

Do you have to re-mount your DIY rear-view camera?
I still need to cut a hole in the sticker for it (well spotted Brett) its only 30mm odd and wont stand out too much.

is that WOW in the cup?
No, but its the same coffee as the beans in the photo...
    (next guess?)

Excellent! Its an Italian van as well.

I predict an increase in CS membership - in Melbourne at least. How could you not see that driving past and not pay it much attention

Ooohhh, I have looked at "punchbugs" in the past and thought they would make an excellent coffee bean on wheels.

    :)

does it make coffee too ?
No but that thought has crossed my mind a few times. The gotcha is that with two pallets of beans in the back it is really full so not enough room for a inverter and espresso machine.

I have seen some funky 12v drip machines though... and have enough room on the dash

Yeah, its Mountain Top coffee Brett.

A blend of two MTC Bin lots that won a medal at the Golden Bean, this was from the actual roast that was entered... Espresso Oz

I sent the 500g comp entry off and then shot and drunk the rest of the roast batch. The photo ended on the van, I won a medal and met the local wildlife at the farm as a bonus.

Tree - bean - roaster - comp- cup - van.

    True end to end!

Re: CoffeeSnobs Van - The Vehicle Wrap is on!

    Very nice van indeed.

I guess my mind works in a rather bizarre fashion, as I get a vision inspired by Jello Biafra and DOA, but rather than a black van on a Washington DC beltway making crack, I see Andy on a Melbourne freeway roasting beans in the back... Anyway, good music to roast beans to... and at least its displaced the Barbie and the diamond castle tune from rattling around in my head.

Anyway, I guessed MT before I got to the punch line. I was going for Bin 549 due to the uniformity of the roast. Bin 35 still roasts uneven for me. Its great to see a true Aussie star bean on the van, even though the point may be lost on virtually everybody. A good conversation piece though.

Lost on virtually everybody is fine, they see a funky looking van half covered in coffee beans.... and I really like having the connection with the actual beans in the picture. Far better than using an anoymous studio shot picture of beans!

The problem I have with the van is the espresso shot looks so good every time I get into the van I want a coffee.

Barbie soundtracks? I think I know them all and I guess you know all about Fairy Beach too? The joys of small kids.

Room aint the gotcha Andy - suspension capabilities & GVM is ;)

Even if you fitted the rig out with an inverter, the weight of the required added batteries to power a machine & grinder (4-5kva), with those pallets of beans in the back, would render your chassis [s]fu****[/s] futile.

Stay with your core ... roasting.

Groovy lookin wrap BTW mate :)

Not another fairytopia movie?! ... Im trying to ween her onto something a bit more palatable, but it just gets undone by advertising on Sat morning when she watches Hannah Montana...

Dear me, I wouldnt consider installing a machine to sell coffee to others, I would only do it for my own use... and other snobs I meet in my travels of course.

The Van looks great Andy. I can see a lot of similarities to the end design to the one Sparro and I ended up creating. I guess we were always saving the best to last.

Still would have like to see Mr Bean poking his head out the back window but oh well, we cant win them all.

Hope you get loads of business from the van and I bet it feels so much better driving around in it knowing that people now know what cargo you are carrying.

    Happy Advertising.
