    Thank you Coffeesnobs

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Well well well. As I may have mentioned at some point on the boards I have been saving up for a new grinder for a while. Since Ive been a student for most of it it has taken about 5 months but I finally got my very own Mazzer Mini. It probably doesnt deserve its own topic but I just wanted to thank everyone who convinced me a grinder is more important than a machine. I am now a wholehearted subscriber to this philosophy. The little Ikon looks a bit nervous next to the grinder, which is both bigger and heavier but I have got some great results already. My morning shot today was not only the best Ive ever pulled but one of the best Ive tasted from anywhere. Really cat stress how happy I am with this purchase.

Im feeling very coffeesnobbish today. Hope everyone has a great weekend. I know I will.

Great 22a! Its always good to hear someones personal experience back up oft-repeated wisdom and show its not just regurgitated internet wisdom. The Ikon sounds to be a reliable performer so enjoy a caffeinated weekend! :)

22a have you got normal filters for your Ikon (your in welly right?) if so, where did you get them?

I have been offered one on trademe for a very good price (factory 2nd) which I am thinking of replacing the very old coffee machine at the shop with but would only want to do so with normal baskets

    Sorry for the thread hijack.

    Enjoy your mini, very jealous

Glad to hear its all worked, and the coffee is the best.
Enjoy. The Mazzer wont wear out soon, I understand the burrs themselves are good for 400kg of coffee or so!

I think the Ikon is a pretty good choice as far as entry machines go. Ive had mine almost 2 years now and no troubles at all. I did a bit of a home job on the filters for my machine and cut the bottoms out with a dremel. The first time I did it was a bit messy but that was the single basket. The double came out quite clean and works a treat. Ive heard that to order the filters through Breville in NZ is about a month wait (not sure about the price though).
